I have heard of a few people who have just isolated based on positive lateral flow tests. Getting a PCR can be quite difficult. If you take 2 or 3 lateral flows and they're all positive you can be quite confident that you've got it.
yeah issue was I only had one other LF and my mum needed it for work, so I managed to get in at a walk-in PCR near mine and I was done in an hour.
More LFs arrived yesterday though so no issue now
my mum and dad, both boosted, and at least my dad has definitely had COVID already too, have both shown no symptoms so far and are both still testing negative.
Given Omicron symptoms usually present themselves within 1-2 days I'm hoping they've avoided it
EDIT: When I had COVID in the summer, I never bothered getting a PCR. I was ill, my whole family had it bar my Mum and I knew I had it.
