Omicron seems to just spread like wildfire, I don't think masks are working as well with this variant. Boosters are the main prevention. We need to start preparing for a fourth dose in Spring/Summer.

I guess it points towards less public settings being potentially a larger driver for spread than the crowded places. Masks aren't worn for close contact a lot of the time, in homes sat at tables eating and chatting etc

Omicron spreads quickly and burns out quickly. We need to focus on boosters right now and then the rest can come later if needed. Omicron rises sharply, peaks, then falls off. We were always going to see the peak in the first week of Jan so that's probably where it's heading to.

Why the urgency for boosters?
Clearly boosters aren't even stopping the spread.
Either spread is fine as long as everyone has vaccines or it isn't and the vaccines aren't ever going to be the answer to that. If we govern by spread then it's an endless cycle, if we govern by the effects of the vaccine then plenty reasons can break the cycle finally at 150 million of them administered.
Boosters and vaccines are to dull symptoms not stop you spreading it.

That is literally what I said in my post.
You said “why the urgency for boosters they’re clearly not stopping the spread” as if they’re meant to and failing?
The urgency for boosters is to protect as many people as possible from having bad symptoms from arguably the most infectious strain we’ve seen. We’re giving people the chance to hold a shield up against this thing hitting everyone with a sword.

You seem to agree with the same point but are disagreeing , but not actually disagreeing?
I know the vaccine doesn't stop spread, hence the point that if we are concerned about spread then the vaccine means nothing. The spread will never change as long as covid exists, if anything the spread is getting worse with each one.
So we should be thinking beyond spread as that will never go away.
But we’re not seemingly going after spread because if we were we’d be pushing lockdowns not boosters.

Then the spread is irrelevant! Cases are irrelevant.
I agree , focus should be on the vaccines , they are the proven factor in all of this. Not lockdowns , not masks (which are a waste of time now let's be honest given the sheer number of infections) , but needles.
