Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I'm seriously worried about the idea of a full lockdown and the impact it will have on my family. My brother is severely disabled, both physically and mentality. If I can't take him for a walk or drive at least once a day it will result in him being extremely distressed and almost certainly hurting himself severely. :(

I imagine you'll still be allowed out to an extent mate - think of how many people own dogs I dont think they'll be a full lockdown in terms of the outdoors.

I imagine largely patrols around the city/town centres.

Thats until the busybodies dob you in online that is lol

The countries that will need it most are lagging behind at the moment so 6 months may be well timed.

Having said that, you can guarantee that they'll probably be the last to get it. I mean we're talking about having to produce this vaccine in the billions. I literally have no conception of how much of a humungous task that is.
IF they give up their patent rights for a year and allow all pharmaceutical companies to manufacture it ,it would help.
I cannot be sure that will happen though

Surely the whole point of closing the scholls was for parents to do some parenting and keep their children indoors
Well, yep.

But let's face it not every parent can do that (for a huge variety of reasons).

And yeh, the park near me was full this afternoon in the same way it would be in the summer holidays.

It would be a timed lock down similar to Italy for example. So you could take him out during the day with authorisation and be home by a set time.

Not clued up on Italy's version but worth a read if you wanted more information on how it would work

They will not lock you in your homes mate. I really hope so anyway.

This government for all of their faults are doing everything in their power to avoid that. Yet they are still getting criticised for it.

The people to blame are the hordes of totally thick people that we have. Honestly, it's disgraceful. Fed up of people using other people being totally thick as an excuse to play politics when when it comes down to a case like yours you really need to be able to get out.

Every shop, cafe, restaurant, bar, pub should now be or very soon will be shut. There will be supermarkets and garages open and pharmacists. There is nothing to go out for other than exercise.

We are all but in lockdown. I don't get why people can't realise this and then just have some common sense.

Someone going on a walk and not seeing anyone or if they do staying far away has absolutely no impact on the spread of this virus.

I was annoyed earlier as I went on a walk and while most people I saw were all keeping distance (it was funny in a way, everyone being polite about it but also looking at each other like they've got a rifle on them or something) there were others who were stopping to chat or let their dogs play or whatever. Just have some common sense ffs.

I went for a solo cycle ride out into Surrey today. Getting back through Richmond Park (on the outskirts of London) was ridiculous. Literally thousands of people had descend on the place. I've seen it busy but today was something else. I've also heard that thousands of people were cramming onto Snowdon today too. I completely get why people want to get out and about but it seems many people are devoid of common sense.
A wise man once said
The problem with common sense is that it's not all that common

Lockdown still sees supermarkets, chemists, petrol stations open.
Maybe restricted hours. You can still get the essentials.
