would have thought he'd be the last person to go if he works in Air Traffic Control
He's an assistant training to be a controller they have been told they'll be last to go some in other departments already been finished.Been told they'll be ok for 12 weeks, hopefully after last nights announcement about wages being covered they'll get taken back but its still worrying

Yes indeed virus overload and continued exposure cannot be good to others, maybe worse... Again self isolation in homes, appreciate the difficulties many will experience, probably impossible, however, that is more of a reflection on the society we have allowed ourselves to become, me myself and I.
Well tbh my attitude might be a selfish one but you've got to be well and sound in life to be in a position to truly help others.

That doesn't mean to be callous or rude or selfish in the sense of everyday life - you should always be kind and giving - but you can't also get wound up about solving the world's problems, or your life wouldn't be worth living. So I don't know if that's being selfish or not. It's just my outlook. I look after/worry about myself and my family first and foremost though (in equal measure).

There's currently no need to self isolate at all in the UK unless you have the symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has shown them.

What we all need to be doing is socially distancing or whatever it is and that's fine. Look, nothing's open, there's nothing to do other than go out on a walk or a long drive or a run or bike ride. And none of those things require you to be close to people and all can be done in fresh air and open space. And if you are not feeling the symptoms / working then you should 100% be doing those things if possible. It's healthy and good for the mind and body.

I've just been on an hour run earlier this afternoon. I'm normally working on Saturday afternoons but I imagine it's about as busy as ever in terms of people out walking, riding bikes or whatever. Families/small groups were together but there was a definite vibe of everyone respectively being more mindful to keep their distance.

I think that's the best way at the moment. People need to be healthy to have a better chance of brushing this off if they get it. And the healthier people are, the more space and treatment will be available for those people who get the virus and really need the treatment.

I know the Everton thread are usually depressing and always thinking of the worse. But we can we not think of the worse in here.

they were paying 3.5k and I couldn't find the link to apply, was honestly considering it

I don't want to get ill like, but desperate times :D
Well in mate if you do it. To be honest, the money is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. You've well earned it. You can't put a price on what could save the lives of millions.

Yeh I mean we'll have to see how desperate it gets like.

As it stands I'm alright but you never know...

Hopefully they can get this vaccine through quickly (know it'll still be at least six months).

Just seen the NHS England have made a deal with private hospitals making more nurses, doctors, beds and ventilators available, great news

'Up to 8,000 additional hospital beds and nearly 1200 more ventilators will be provided across England.

While 10,000 private sector nurses, 700 doctors and over 8,000 other clinical staff will rush to the aid of the currently nearing capacity NHS.

In London the deal will see over 2000 hospital beds, and over 250 operating theatres and critical beds made available.'

The countries that will need it most are lagging behind at the moment so 6 months may be well timed.

Having said that, you can guarantee that they'll probably be the last to get it. I mean we're talking about having to produce this vaccine in the billions. I literally have no conception of how much of a humungous task that is.

Good news that, though as with everything the devil will be in how much the NHS has paid for it.

Yeah, I think we're going to be seeing the affects of this virus on the NHS for years, hopefully this will see more investment in the NHS from Governments to come, the realisation of just how important it is to us all is there for everyone to see
