You can say the same for any ailment that is caused by choice. Cigs, booze, obesity etc. What's the difference?
You know it's bad for you, but you still do said thing to ail you.
Well, the basic difference is none of those choices are contributing to the global pandemic that has actively prevented treatment from others. If alcohol abuse starts preventing care from those with unpreventable needs, we can have that conversation too. It’s also extremely easy to go spend a hour getting a jab. The others have roots in genetics and addiction. No one is addicted to not getting a vaccine.

This idea of going to the anti vaxxer houses with the jabs seems pointless. Can't see it being particularly effective. The only way to make an impact is to impact their day to day life.

It's time for the politicians to come out and make it clear that all restrictions are down to one group - the unvaccinated.
By far and away the biggest ming on this forum. I will never get vaccinated just to see you go mental on here x

Actually this isn’t true at all. If a clinically obese person catches covid, they’re probably going to suffer far worse symptoms and end up in hospital or suffer from long term respiratory problems as a result of their already poor health, regardless of if they’ve been vaccinated or not. A 29 year old, 12 stone, fit and healthy adult with no underlying health conditions who also happens to be unvaccinated, is almost certainly not being admitted to hospital if they catch covid.

There's a link to an article in the Echo mate if you type ( 42 year old man dies of Covid in Liverpool). It's just one story which stuck with me but well worth just taking a read. I won't link it as I'm not sure if we can post Echo links.

Would you say this fella passed away due to catching Covid at 42 mate so it's down to age? Even though he's probably fitter than the vast majority of us

That image of him with a full hazmat mask on, next step for him would have been a ventilator.

No age at all, fit as a fiddle. Hopefully though in time they'll find specific reasons why it affects someone more than someone else, whether that be age, obesity, underlying health issues or just plain damn hard luck.

Also, not having a dig mate. I know you haven't had the vaccine so the link is in no way trying to say you should. Regardless if i agree or disagree with your posts in here, your a good poster and contribute a lot to the forum.

I didn’t see that story. That is indeed tragic and 42 is no age at all. I wouldn’t have thought his age would put him in the vulnerable bracket there, but I would definitely ask the question of whether there’s anything in his previous medical history or an undetected condition. It’s extremely unusual for a completely fit and healthy person under 50 to die primarily from covid.

None of those are as easily fixed as this is.
But it is the same mentality.
There are people who are just dead set against doing something. No matter what it is, they won't be told or pressured In to making that change.
You can't make somebody do what they are just against doing. People smoke, drink etc knowing the risks. Same as this. People know the risk. It is their body, their mind and just won't be told.

People are literally willing to walk away from their jobs and careers because they don't want the jabs.
Was speaking with a senior manager today at our trust. He had to come in because of lack of staff. He was saying the hospital is running on the expectation of losing 10% of our permanent staff on this. That is before you even consider the impact on the bank staff. Who many of, have point blank refused.

Some people just don't want the jab. Plain and simple. It's not an easy fix. If your mind is made up, then it is made up. People are all kinds of stubborn.
Was talking with somebody today at work. She is adamant, she is not having it. Nothing can convince her. No conspiracy theory nonsense, no thinking the vaccine is bad for her. She just simply doesn't want it.

an undetected condition.

Almost certainly that. We know that the ultimate way that folk die from covid is a hypoxic cardiac arrest. That means the heart is fine, but oxygen stops getting to it. So it stops. If the medics cant get the oxygen flowing and heart started, toast.

So an undetected heart weakness, (think various footballers), coupled with a lung infection, (covid) in a busy ICU, well, there you might have it.

If you look about midway through this article they have a picture of him from when he was going through a “bodybuilding phase”. This is uneducated speak for “using copious amounts of drugs”. It is very possible this will have affected him.

Oh of course. This also ties in with what @roydo was saying above about heart weaknesses. Steroid use notoriously causes heart complications.

While you are right that another case probably will be milder than what you have already had, especially with the variants being less lethal than the last but there have been numerous recorded cases where it was upon the second time of catching the virus they suffered far worse. Here is one such story:

Think there was a another football manager who had a similar experience too.

Good to know, thanks.

Its pretty simple, antibodies are egg timed they decline we know over a six month period. Then you are relying on T-Cells, unless you top up your antibodies through boosting.

The severity of having Covid, if you've had it once isn’t predictable, it can be down to a range of factors but particularly viral load, plenty of young people in ICU and stats in mortality, more so in the unvaccinated.

There was something on ITV news a week back, from a hospital in Liverpool where the biggest cohort they had in ICU were unvaccinated young adults.

In a weird way, younger is now the new vulnerable, particularly children, but young adults too as they are the biggest cohort who may be unvaccinated, had a single dose, or waining immunity, waiting for boosters etc.

Yep, thought I saw it alright.

Covid was sadly the leading cause of death for the 35-42 age group in the USA, above things like cancer or accidents, during the peak of the Delta wave in August and September.

Some of them will have had co-morbidities but for others it will just be their immune system overreacted and ended up causing issues.

Nikki had 4 hypoxic cardiacs, caused by an undetected lung infection. Her heart was like a lion, so they could restart it until they nuked her lungs. And a vent, obvs. But if the heart is compromised, well, good luck.

... and all of that is up to them. Where it becomes a problem is when that choice of theirs impacts other people.
