I’d forgotten all about Kenshin!I’ve just gone and read the first 30 odd pages of this thread again.
I do it every so often.
Maybe a few others should ?

The good old days when a dose of Gonorrhea was the biggest worry of entering a nightclub.

Nothing will actually come of this will it, it’ll be confined to GOT vaults never to be opened again, by the end of next week.

I got it spectacularly wrong early doors myself like haha
Yes, this is why stopping the spread is so important.
I will say....A third of known cases. I still think the actual number of infected is much higher than is known or reported. We might never know since there have been asymptomatic infected patients. Which would mean that the severely ill aren't really a third of all infected.
I'm not trying to diminish the seriousness or the potential impact. Quite the opposite. Unlike SARS, I think there's a real chance it becomes endemic.
You have to ask yourself....
If it was all so terryfying, scary and life threatening, that we had to avoid our loved ones and close down and decimate the hospitality industry last Christmas, then how come the Tories, the s*n newspaper business and all these other toffs thought it perfectly safe to have a number of parties with no social distancing and then have the balls to pee themselves laughing about it at a dress rehearsal for questions about said parties?
Something stinks folks.
While pubs and bars were on their knees, number 10 was on the wine and cheese.
I wish I had
The average age of those that have died from this variant of the cold is 75, with most having pre-existing health conditions. It's also in a generally deprived/very poor healthcare and hygiene standards area of the world.
The flu has a far higher mortality rate in otherwise healthy people and is far more common. Even in Wuhan I'd hazard a very safe guess that the flu has killed as many or close to it since this whole hysteria started.
The fear isn't really about what's happening now; it's about what could happen if it mutated.
It's not that this shouldn't be taken seriously, it's just that it's a prime example of the news and social media loving a 'sexy' story. The hitherto unknown 'coronavirus' gets more attention than the very well known 'influenza'. There's no way the media are underplaying this - if there was a conspiracy to hush it up, we simply wouldn't know about it or it'd be niche on Weibo etc. like we didn't about Spanish Flu.
How people are still falling for it I’ll never know. You have to ask yourself....

Decreasing graphs is not newsworthy. Kuensberg has to stay relevant and loves to scare us all to death every night.Stuck out for me when Chris whitty was going through his data yesterday and all his graphs for deaths / hospitalisations were clearly decreasing.
Surprised nobody else made a noise about that, the data they presented was the opposite of justification for restrictions!
Yeah it's called a seasonal cold outbreak that is marginally more lethal than a 'normal' cold, killing basically only those with pre-existing health conditions, and signficantly less dangerous than the flu.
Overhyped to the extreme.
The media. And by extension the population.
The WHO just operate on an abundance of caution like they should, as they did with SARS and Zika. Its not a reflection on the potency of the epidemic.
This is just a cold that's been hyped up by the media to draw hysteria and thus interest in their channels.
