So. Went to Tesco this afternoon. Mask wearers were in a very tiny minority. People just walking past security saying exempt. Them into a home bargains. Nobody I mean nobody with a mask in, not even staff. Nobody questions.

Wonder if this is the tipping point for most, where they say nah. Will be interesting to see in a week or so, if it is the Same.

The polar opposite down here. Everyone had one on.

Been like that for a while hasn't it down south though?

I went to a supermarket at lunch in the commercial part of town and there was similar masks to usual maybe 3 or 4 out of every 10 people. I think maybe people aren't putting them on because they don't wear them in offices?

When they became a personal choice, plenty didnt bother, even some supermarket staff, which I found strange if I am honest. But today, in Sainsburys and Tescos, was back to pretty much 100%.

TBF (and I say this as a supporter of free healthcare for all) there does need to be some consequence for being unvaccinated by choice, even if it’s just an acceptance that if / when there is one bed / ventilator / time slot for an operation or whatever and two patients who need that (one vaccinated vs one unvaccinated) then it’s the one who has actually tried to help protect themselves and others that should get it.

I don’t back mandatory vaccination or anything like that, but people should have to live with the consequences of their decisions. I’d also strongly support people who suffered because they listened to disinformation being able to sue those who’ve spread it.

These kind of shouts are terrible tbf.

What if the unvaccinated person has looked after themselves and the vaccinated is obese? What if its two vaccinated and one is younger than the other?

If the unvaxed cant get treated, surely they should be exempt from contributing to a service they cant use?

Its a slippery slope

Tend to agree mate. Like Covid has skewed everything, NHS wise, but anyone who has had any type of relationship with either their staff, or their services, they routinely have a natural inclination to focus on the wins.

But as frustrating as it is, (vax/non vax), you just cant have doctors making a decision on treatment based on a patients lifestyle. Treatment based on likely survival? Thats a whole different issue, and as many on here know, they aint always right.

They've not looked after themselves, though?

Also I wasn't saying the unvaxed wouldn't be treated, I said that when it comes to care for the thing they could have prevented very easily they shouldn't be pushing other people out of the care those people need. They should get the same care everyone else does otherwise.

Its very emotive. But, Dr T, you have two patients in ICU, and one vent. Unvaxed 29 year old mother of 3, and a vaxed 90 year old single man with 70 years of smoking on his rap sheet.

Over to you.

I think they mean in general, healthy lifestyle etc

A fat, 30 stone heffer who smokes and drinks every day but got vaccinated hasn't 'helped themself' more than someone who is really in shape, keeps themself healthy, doesn't smoke etc.

yes, they should have the vaccine too, but I think that's the point the poster was making.

Edit: And btw, there is a fat, 30 stone heffer who smokes and drinks every day that I know that got vaccinated and then got COVID and only ended up on oxygen (not a ventilator), so it is proof the vaccines do work against death/very serious illness. Like my dad, 65 and COPD but hasn't drunk in 12 years, doesn't smoke anymore, but if he'd not have been vaccinated I'm sure he'd have ended up in hospital when he got COVID, but luckily was no worse than 3 days of feeling rough and then the loss of taste and smell for a week or so
