A lot of the messaging was like that in fairness. I seem to remember them talking about no reverses in the roadmap as well?

Yes they did, multiple times. I still think a lockdown is out of the question for this reason. The media will continue to push for it but the public aren’t buying it anymore. There would be large scale riots if it were to happen.

To be fair we had Matt Cockhead fake crying on national telly when the first person in the UK had their vaccine, telling us “we can all now get on with our lives”. I’d say the vast majority of the country fell for the “get your jab and you can go back to normal” bollocks.
Had vaccination rates been strong globally then that would be right.

I've seen this around a few times this week , if only we had vaccinated the world. Jeremy Hunt yesterday saying this a product of not vaccinating poor countries.

Given the sheer fact that having the vaccine doesn't stop you getting covid, what difference does what proportion of the world is vaccinated?

It would still exist , still infect and still mutate.

Now if you vaccinated 100% of the world's population it would die completely , but that isn't ever going to happen.

Most of the difficulties we're experiencing at the moment, whether with hospitalisations or new variants, are because of infections among the un-vaccinated.
I think if that were irrefutable then we'd already be at the point of lockdowns for the unvaccinated and making them pay for their own hospital treatment. But the data doesn't back that up

That we're not doing that is a political decision as much as anything. I mean you can't travel internationally without a vaccine, but that's not as politically sensitive as stopping the un-vaccinated going to the pub.

That's not true though, as vaccination reduces the chances that you'll get Covid, reduces the chance that you'll spread it, and reduces the chance of serious illness if you get it.

That can’t happen because it doesn’t actually make any sense, when you could have 10 vaccinated people in a pub that all actually have covid.

But doesn't eliminate it though? Vaccinated can still catch it and spread it no?

Which is the point. Only a complete 100% would work, we can't even 100% the country.

TBF (and I say this as a supporter of free healthcare for all) there does need to be some consequence for being unvaccinated by choice, even if it’s just an acceptance that if / when there is one bed / ventilator / time slot for an operation or whatever and two patients who need that (one vaccinated vs one unvaccinated) then it’s the one who has actually tried to help protect themselves and others that should get it.

I don’t back mandatory vaccination or anything like that, but people should have to live with the consequences of their decisions. I’d also strongly support people who suffered because they listened to disinformation being able to sue those who’ve spread it.
