Hope your niece recovers quickly Mac x
So do I LL, she's a handful without school for her mum lol
Hope your niece recovers quickly Mac x
Seems to be a lot of cases in schools ( my 8 year old niece has just tested positive ), a couple of friends in my sons class (aged 13) have tested positive and quite a few in the year group 2 years above him have tested positive. That's just a small sample, but if that was happening a lot everywhere else l, that would certainly be a lot of cases covered by children/teenagers wouldn't it.
Iirc your son had loss of taste for quite a while afterwards - any improvement?Same in my lads school. Four of his mates have it, as does his cousin.
Other than loss of taste, non have any other symptoms.

A good silver lining! He’s had a slight improvement, as he can now taste a few more things.
However, the big plus, has been the fact that he no longer eats chocolate, as he says it tastes “ rotten “![]()
Impressive vaccination pace in Australis and New Zealand recently
. I take comfort though in that of course everything on social media is amplified and maybe the anti-vax numbers here are not as strong as they appear.85% of eligible population with a first dose already would indicate that, although a vocal one, the antivaxers are very much the minority. Thanks LL, yeah in New Zealand we're just over 85% of the eligible population (12 years+) with at least one first dose, and around 67% of the eligible population fully vaccinated. Hopefully by mid-November we should be nudging 90% of the eligible population fully vaccinated.
I've become a strong advocate for vaccination, I've got a side gig as a contact trace caller for the Ministry of Health and it's heartbreaking to see even in the early days of our community COVID transmission the huge number of unvaccinated COVID cases in spite of a strong number of vaccinations in the population. I've stupidly started arguing with a couple of prominent New Zealand anti-vaxxers (or as they like to call themselves, "pro-freedom") on social media, it's actually quite depressing to see how they manipulate and prey on scared, vulnerable, and, well I'll say it, not particularly intelligent people.
I've always looked at examples in the US, UK and Australia and thought to myself that couldn't happen in New Zealand, we're a reasonably liberal society with a fairly high level of trust in our government and political systems. How wrong was I, it looks like we're no different to anywhere else in the stupidity stakes. I take comfort though in that of course everything on social media is amplified and maybe the anti-vax numbers here are not as strong as they appear.
