The weird thing is that covid doesn't worry her at all. I mean she follows the guidelines and everything, always wears a mask when she's supposed to etc. But she can't wait for lockdown to end. She'd go food shopping 3 or 4 times a week during lockdown because it was the only time she got out of the house. She's already planning what pubs we're going to next Monday ;)
Play the covid passport card :)

U.K. currently has the lowest death rate from Covid in Europe! ;)
Was awful in January but at least we’re now on the ‘right’ side of it.

Annoyed with the decision today because of what it risks but fingers crossed the influx of Moderna later in the month will ensure that, bu the time the first dose roll outs start up again, it’s not too much of a hit

If you look at the modelling above mate based on the Sage delivery schedule, it will be June, July, Aug when the under 30s get their first dose, Oct for the second. Loads of time for a full review and risk assessment on Oxford, in many ways if you look into it today was smoke and mirrors, unlikely anyone in that cohort will be vaccinated until some time in the summer - by then the picture should be clearer and other vaccines online anyway.

Interesting to see the data and discussion presented there. I think that largely falls in line with my current thinking - we are opening too quickly (and without fully explaining the need for continuing public health measures), variants are spreading and vaccinations are slowing down, the rest of the world is struggling against 2nd, 3rd waves.

We need to be as cautious as possible.

Exactly. It wasn't an arbitrary figure arrived at (under-30s). It was a cynically calculated one that allows this murderous government the scope to continue a roll out of a vaccine which has clear problems but which is central to their political breast beating exercise and their desire to assuage their corporate bosses to get the econonmy back to 'old normal' ASAP.

We will end up back in lockdown by the end of July and the project will fail.

How are we still at:

"Its lockdown forever or open up as quickly as we can".

In my opinion we should reopen for the summer months as outdoor activity is very healthy. If there is going to be another lockdown it will definitely be in the winter. Why push anything back when outdoor activity is extremely safe and low risk?

I'm convinced there will be another 6 month lockdown from October- March so let's allow people some freedom now until then.

Has anyone shared this yet?

Uses individual computers to help better understand Covid and other diseases. So what would normally need a supercomputer(s) is made easier with this distributed effort.

Bit more info on it there. And here:

Amazing that, using a relatively simple solution to solve an extremely complex problem. Crowd-sourced gamified computing power.
