UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock is asked on BBC Radio 4's Today programme what he would say to those aged 30-50 who are waiting to be called up for their vaccination and might be worried about receiving the AstraZeneca jab.

"I will take whichever vaccine I am offered," Hancock says
.

Now, if you're the Health Minister and are telling everyone that the AZ vaccine is fine and we all should continue taking it, dont you underline that by getting the AZ jab yourself?

What utter clowns and chancers we're led by.

Re the AZ vaccine:

Hancock tells BBC Breakfast this shows the UK's safety system is working because the regulators were able to spot an "extremely rare event" that affects about four in a million people.

Yes, regulators in the EU...who the Tories vilified when they blew the whistle over it.

This is the type of human flotsam and jetsam controlling our fortunes.

This thread should used evidence of this -

No I believe in opening everything except for daft things like festivals etc. The mix of outdoor activity and safe indoor activity is fine for the summer. This has been proven by last summers extremely low spread even with ZERO vaccinations at the time.
Worth noting that the variant circulating last summer was not as transmissible as the predominant variant in the UK now.

Indeed.

These people are now in a blind panic because all the promises they were made about vaccines and reopenings look to be coming apart at the seems and they now lash out at those of us who cautioned them against drinking the Kool Aid.

It's 'kin tragic.
We are still on track, Dave, but are not quite at the destination yet. To use a Van-Tam type analogy, anyone wanting to get out of the car needs to mindful that it is still moving.

I think the April reopening outdoor is fine but wouldn't have a problem if they moved the May and June dates a month ahead if there are delays with the vaccines.

We definitely need to get it right this time around and all the 20/30's will be out in their droves particularly in June which could be troublesome with this Kent strain knocking about if a good portion aint vaccinated by then.
I think the thing to consider is 'do we want another lockdown?' because if we open up too quickly then we risk losing control again and having to lockdown again..

Cautionary approach is the wisest.

Its meant to be 40% more transmissible but over 70% of the UK population is partially protected through the vaccine compared to zero last summer. That more than makes up for the increase in transmisability.
I cannot wait to get back to seeing mates in the pub Joe but we do still need to be cautious. It may be that we are over the worst but witnessing what is happening in Chile shows that if we let our guard down we could be in for a nasty wake-up call. I'm not suggesting I want to live in Dave's bunker, more that I want to be sure that when we get out, which should be soon, that we give ourselves the best chance of staying back in normality for as long as is possible.

It does feel that the sensible approach would be for the June 21st end of restriction date to be late August if they hit their target of offering all adults a jab by end of July. So then all adults jabbed (hopefully 80%+) will have a fair degree of protection. Another summer of restrictions would be sad but looks necessary
