Exactly. It wasn't an arbitrary figure arrived at (under-30s). It was a cynically calculated one that allows this murderous government the scope to continue a roll out of a vaccine which has clear problems but which is central to their political breast beating exercise and their desire to assuage their corporate bosses to get the econonmy back to 'old normal' ASAP.

We will end up back in lockdown by the end of July and the project will fail.

lol

The Chief Medical Officer has predicted that if the rate of reopening happen at a quicker rate than the one outlined then there will be that surge and hospitalisation will increase and the government will need to act....which is in line with wehat I posted above about dancing to the tune of corporate Britain and reopening ASAP.

Oh, and slightly more concerning "the scientists at the University of Warwick also shared a similar conclusion that a “distinct third wave of infection” would arise due to the current rate of planned unlocking, with hospital admissions peaking between late July and mid-August."

In short: everyone recognises that threat except you...which doesn't surprise me because you're still adamant we wont have a second wave.

Lol.

Just like we were in lockdown last July, with not one single person vaccinated.

Due to the infection rate plumetting and things going to plan ( so far ) you appear to have adopted a new " Back to the Future " approach to your doom mongering lol

In my opinion we should reopen for the summer months as outdoor activity is very healthy. If there is going to be another lockdown it will definitely be in the winter. Why push anything back when outdoor activity is extremely safe and low risk?

I'm convinced there will be another 6 month lockdown from October- March so let's allow people some freedom now until then.
Isn't mixing outdoors, but keeping restrictions in indoor settings largely what @davek has suggested?

Yet you've pitched your position as contrary to his.

Lol.

How long do you spend everyday hunting out articles that suit your agenda lol

Re the AZ vaccine:

Hancock tells BBC Breakfast this shows the UK's safety system is working because the regulators were able to spot an "extremely rare event" that affects about four in a million people.

Yes, regulators in the EU...who the Tories vilified when they blew the whistle over it.

This is the type of human flotsam and jetsam controlling our fortunes.

No I believe in opening everything except for daft things like festivals etc. The mix of outdoor activity and safe indoor activity is fine for the summer. This has been proven by last summers extremely low spread even with ZERO vaccinations at the time.

Indeed.

These people are now in a blind panic because all the promises they were made about vaccines and reopenings look to be coming apart at the seems and they now lash out at those of us who cautioned them against drinking the Kool Aid.

It's 'kin tragic.

....when there wasn't the more contagious UK Virus about at that time.

TBF that potentially raises all manner of questions - if we did pick this up ahead of time (before Norway / the EU), what discussion took place about it?

They knew. 100% they knew. They just didn't alert us to it.

And when it became obvious, the provisional numbers they handed us shot up becaue they had to come clean (though I doubt very much that even those figures are the full story).

These are high political and economic stakes the Tories are playing for.

I think the April reopening outdoor is fine but wouldn't have a problem if they moved the May and June dates a month ahead if there are delays with the vaccines.

We definitely need to get it right this time around and all the 20/30's will be out in their droves particularly in June which could be troublesome with this Kent strain knocking about if a good portion aint vaccinated by then.
