Has she had jab 1? Moderna scientist suggests if the reaction hasn't taken place at jab one then jab two should be fine.

I think obviously everyone is so intuned into news around covid because there's literally nothing else to do that news like this heightens anxiety around it.

Being completely logical, less than 200 cases reported in 34m jabs. You would have to be extraordinarily unlucky to suffer from this with the jab.

I hope you and the wife try and get some form of reassurance and wish you both the best.

One argument with the 'no evidence of the 2nd jab' thing, is that how many people under 70 (other than health workers) have actually had a 2nd jab? Not that many i guess.

She hasn't had any jabs, she doesn't really follow the news, I dunno what it is mate, I just know she ain't keen and other than bring it up now and again I feel as tho making an issue of it wont help.

We don't really have a "tell each other what to do" relationship.

That's fair. If she's anything like mine she will see the headlines or gossip from social media and that will generally be news to her.

Has any research been done on mixing different vaccines?. Do they know if it's even safe. It may actually come with more risks than having a second AZ dose.

No idea but I assume that will be something that will get looked into as I can imagine it will be a popular question. As i said, they haven't flat out refused but are waiting for more research before.

Well its probably very similar to the rate of the number of individuals who have suffered this rare reaction.

I feel your pain. I worry myself at times.

What must be frustrating for you is your wife being 60 I think you said, is seemingly more worried about the jab than the possibility of dealing with covid if caught.

Feel your pain. Best of luck.
The weird thing is that covid doesn't worry her at all. I mean she follows the guidelines and everything, always wears a mask when she's supposed to etc. But she can't wait for lockdown to end. She'd go food shopping 3 or 4 times a week during lockdown because it was the only time she got out of the house. She's already planning what pubs we're going to next Monday ;)

Women. Bloody hell.

If you have had a blood clot, you are even more susceptible to further clots and they can run in the family. It's not that wild. They might even have it by the time they get offered their second if there is further research, like I said. My gf is 31 so close to the age where they could get a choice.
I‘m hopeful that as we get more data that it will show that the risks of getting blood clots from the vaccine are significantly lower than the risk of blood clots from COVID itself (along with all the other potential issues COVID brings)

If that is the case it would have echos to the pill dicussion in that the risks of blood clots from the pill, whilst higher than a baseline of a woman not taking the pill, are still less than the risks of bloodclots from pregnancy.

Shes 36, she has had a few issues with the pill over the years, which have clearly bothered her.

Im not happy about her refusing, but I'm not gonna nag her about it or nothing, its her choice, I had the same thing with my daughter, wasn't happy about it, but its their choice. My daughter had hers in the end, I haven't mentioned it to the wife again.

Hang on, you bagged a wife 20 years younger than you?

Player.

Or take a pill daily that had all sorts of side effects - of the serious and nuisance/make you feel like crap variety.

Some stories were released a few weeks ago about the ongoing trials of a male contraceptive pill. From my basic reading it massively impacts your own testosterone production and the guys in the trials were reporting weight gain, mood swings and hot flushes amongst the side effects.

Wouldn’t wish these side effects on anyone male or female. The things we do for “love” though.

One thing to consider potentially.

These side effects.
Isn't AZ being primarily used in the UK?

When others start coming on board, it's likely further issues will become known.
