Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

My wife is due her 2nd this weekend.
She's none the wiser.
I feel there will be many more none the wiser than bothered.

Can you not explain the risk of catching covid is greater than the jab?
Yeah its a tough 1 mate, shes not stupid or anti-vax, she hasn't technically refused either, that was wrong, but its been weeks now and every time I bring it up she gives me the same "yeah I will sort it" line. I dunno, its a tough 1.

I know some wont like it, again I know the risk is very small, but imagine if I pushed and pushed and something happened? It has to be her choice, she knows the risks and she has and continues to take precautions, she knows how serious this virus is.

Shes 36, she has had a few issues with the pill over the years, which have clearly bothered her.

Im not happy about her refusing, but I'm not gonna nag her about it or nothing, its her choice, I had the same thing with my daughter, wasn't happy about it, but its their choice. My daughter had hers in the end, I haven't mentioned it to the wife again.
Given the issues with the pill I can understand her additional fears. Given the number of women this has effected and the age range, I wouldn't be surprised if they said that was the link.

If it was me I'd try and get her to speak to her GP for guidance and hope he/she can talk her round. But that's my missus. Wouldn't dream of telling you how to deal with your own wife lol

Anyway, hope she comes round or goes for one of the other vaccines when they come on line.

My girlfriends mum (who has previously had a blood clot) and my gf said they currently aren't having their second vaccine until further research is done. I think they are going to ask for a different one and just go through the vaccines again.

Has she had jab 1? Moderna scientist suggests if the reaction hasn't taken place at jab one then jab two should be fine.

I think obviously everyone is so intuned into news around covid because there's literally nothing else to do that news like this heightens anxiety around it.

Being completely logical, less than 200 cases reported in 34m jabs. You would have to be extraordinarily unlucky to suffer from this with the jab.

I hope you and the wife try and get some form of reassurance and wish you both the best.

Interesting that the title on sky news says 18-29 year olds will be offered an alternative vaccine "where available"

Dont be surprised to see many still being given the AZ when it comes down to it.

That sounds completely illogical.

She hasn't had any jabs, she doesn't really follow the news, I dunno what it is mate, I just know she ain't keen and other than bring it up now and again I feel as tho making an issue of it wont help.

We don't really have a "tell each other what to do" relationship.

Let's hope you're right. My missus is a worrier. Always has been to some extent but it's got worse as she's got older. Nothing I can do about it.

I feel your pain. I worry myself at times.

What must be frustrating for you is your wife being 60 I think you said, is seemingly more worried about the jab than the possibility of dealing with covid if caught.

Feel your pain. Best of luck.

With respect..

They've had jab one. Presumably no reaction.
They are going to mix jabs.
They may not get an offer of one till everyone offered there first.
They may face such events still from all the jabs.

If you have had a blood clot, you are even more susceptible to further clots and they can run in the family. It's not that wild. They might even have it by the time they get offered their second if there is further research, like I said. My gf is 31 so close to the age where they could get a choice.

Has any research been done on mixing different vaccines?. Do they know if it's even safe. It may actually come with more risks than having a second AZ dose.
