Well, they are not terrifying. Not to me anyrate.

But there is absolutely no context, (where made, countries, age groups, peer reviews) in a blunt tweet.

Lob in a casual dose of Vax Politics, (the one at cost is the bad guy), and there you have it.

Then put that laughable data on the front page of the Mail. Job done.
The context is in the article linked
As of April 4, EMA said a total of 169 cases of CVST and 53 cases of splanchnic vein thrombosis were reported to the database, among about 34 million people who have been vaccinated with Vaxzevria in the European Economic Area and the UK. By comparison, Straus noted that for the J&J vaccine, 3 CVST cases were found among 4.5 million vaccinated, for Pfizer, 35 CVST cases worldwide were found among 54 million vaccinated in the EEA, and for Moderna, 5 CVST cases worldwide were among 4 million vaccinated in the EEA.

“EMA is reminding healthcare professionals and people receiving the vaccine to remain aware of the possibility of very rare cases of blood clots combined with low levels of blood platelets occurring within 2 weeks of vaccination. So far, most of the cases reported have occurred in women under 60 years of age within 2 weeks of vaccination. Based on the currently available evidence, specific risk factors have not been confirmed,” the agency said.

I just dont get the timing of this , the age group 19 to 30 are not due to even get their vaccine til June.
If they (19 to 30) are part of the clinically extremely vulnerable or health care workers they would have been one of the first bunch to get it.

Yeah, but everyone and his dog has been going on about it and the EMA we’re doing a presentation.....

They all have the same potential issue....
Aye, which is why we need more data
One hypothesis is that the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna) and those using adenoviruses (AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson) could induce synthesis of the COVID spike protein within platelets, which may then trigger autoimmune reactions against platelets, Hamid Merchant, PhD, of the University of Huddersfield in England, wrote in a letter to The BMJ.
"COVID genetic vaccines may have a direct role in spurring an autoimmune response against platelets that may clinically manifest in thrombocytopenia, hemorrhage, and blood clots. Clotting risks may be equally possible with all genetic COVID vaccines, and may not be limited only with the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine," he told MedPage Today.

Pruthi said ITP related to vaccination is probably a separate process involving a different autoantibody than the HIT reaction linked to the European CVST cases. The important point is that healthcare providers recognize the possibility that platelet factor 4 antibody could be involved in very rare cases of CVST after vaccination for COVID-19.

"Generally when patients develop CVST, the first thing you do is give them heparin. In this situation, that would be the worst thing to do. You would need to avoid heparin and use a different nonheparin anticoagulant," he said. "Hence the importance of making the diagnosis. Providers need to be vigilant to this phenomenon, to make sure they get the right tests, diagnose it quickly, and consult a coagulation expert."

Random post on Reddit which highlights a concern for me :

It's just very concerning overall how they totally covered this all up here in the UK. The UK has given out the most AZ doses in Europe by far, but there was no mention of blood clot deaths until European countries starting repeatedly raising the issue. Then suddenly the UK announced a few blood clots but no deaths. Then it suddenly jumped to 30 blood clots and a few deaths. Now it's 79 blood clots and 19 deaths. These didn't suddenly happen in the last week, they've just not been telling us.

We would've never have heard of those 19 deaths and we would've been kept in the dark if EU countries hadn't flagged this up. We probably wouldn't have this age restriction now either. How can we trust the government or the NHS on vaccines after this?

How long has Davek been on Reddit.....

Flip it around. My 21 year old niece is on warfarin due to a heart problem. She's had her first dose, what would you give her for her second? If you have doubts when giving your answer then surely it's right that they displaying caution?

My father in law was on that. Warfarin thins the blood, they check the dose regularly, she should speak to her doctor but I doubt they will say there’s an issue....

To those saying oh well the under x years are less likely to catch it and end up in hospital. Yes that may be the case now, but its going to continue to mutate and nobody knows if a deadlier strain will come along in the near future that may affect younger people/kids etc. Thats why really we should be vaccinating as many as possible

Also the vaccine needs to be rolled out world wide, especially the poorer or developing nations as again, if we look at it with the 'we are alright jack' outlook, its going to continue to run rife in those countries then inevitably get back here

I still dont get the panic over the blood clots, people acting like its 1 in 100 people.

Im more concerned about what they might have landed 18 million of us for the rest of our lives.

Trust this 'kin government to bollocks this up.

By the time I get my second jab I'm hoping that everyne has an alternative to get.
Two shots of the AZ vaccine might give us "oldies" even more lasting thoughts about how Everton used to perform and the exciting football played many moons ago. Kendall, Ball and Harvey. Wonderful !!!!!
