My missus is 60, same as me, but she's a worrier.

She's literally just come up to me now and said she's worried about having the second AZ jab. I know it's going to play on her mind until we have it done, which is not until late May.

She was fine until this afternoon. How many households in the UK are going through this now?
Millions. And rightly so.

Been researching that, especially since I got the JNJ jab yesterday! As you say the JNJ is adenovirus-vectored tech like AZ

There weren’t any red flags during the trials but guess we’ll see if any change as more data comes in
During trials for the Janssen vaccine involving nearly 44,000 people, 10 of the 22,000 people who received the blank dose developed a blood clot – or thrombo-embolic events - while 14 of the remaining 22,000 who were inoculated, developed a clot. “This is about the same”, for both groups said Dr Annelies Wilder-Smith, SAGE Technical Advisor. “There’s a slight imbalance, but it’s still not statistically significant,”

Those aged 18-29 in the UK will be known as the "Novavax kids" you can spot us a mile away with our third testicles and two heads

Now we AZ vaccine veterans really need to worry:

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has responded to the MHRA's findings that there's "a strong possibility" the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab is associated with an "extremely small" risk of rare blood clots.

Having received a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Starmer says he will follow the medicines regulators advice and have his second dose of the jab.

He says: “The AstraZeneca vaccine is safe, effective and saving thousands of lives.

If that loser is backing it we're doomed.

How d'you mean mate? Those stats are utterly damning...and terrifying.

Well, they are not terrifying. Not to me anyrate.

But there is absolutely no context, (where made, countries, age groups, peer reviews) in a blunt tweet.

Lob in a casual dose of Vax Politics, (the one at cost is the bad guy), and there you have it.

Then put that laughable data on the front page of the Mail. Job done.

I’m no anti anything to be honest I would take the jab, I don’t care either way.

However, All you n*b heads having a go at the anti vaccers, sort your selfs out.

Why would any under 30s who have about 0.02% chance of dying from the vaccine, take a jab no one knows anything about, this is just the first aswel.

With respect, that is such a blunt analysis.

Some really weird stuff going on imo. For what reason??
Well yes it is pretty blunt analysis but if that is the data we have I don’t see anything weird in reporting it tbh

In time we might find out that data is incorrect or perhaps more focus on AZ has distorted the numbers (when you actively look for something you generally find more of it).

And those numbers are still suggesting an awfully low risk - horrible if you/a loved one are one of the impacted of course.

I’ve told you before, the AZ vaccine also turns you into a Tory...you’ll be fine after your second dose.....

The stats will be skewed, for sure. In this country where the bulk has been rolled out there will be way more older than younger who have had AZ - different than the continent.

But the figures vis-a-vis the other vaccines are concerning.

Hospital figures - 45 deaths were announced today, up 29 on yesterday and down 4 on last Wednesday. 42 deaths were in English hospitals, up 30 on yesterday and up 11 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 35.57

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, up 25 on yesterday and up 2 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises slightly to 30.57

For the 60 day cut off, 146 deaths were announced today, up 120 on yesterday and up 22 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 68.43

Because if they don't take the vaccine they will likely catch COVID at some point and it will have more opportunities to mutate further and potentially kill millions more?

Aside from that, no reason.

It’s not that they may die, but that they continue to spread it. So no holidays for them and no going the pub....

I just dont get the timing of this , the age group 19 to 30 are not due to even get their vaccine til June.
If they (19 to 30) are part of the clinically extremely vulnerable or health care workers they would have been one of the first bunch to get it.
