that’s fine mate and I’m pleased you can achieve that wherever you are . I’ve not suggested anyone is sticking me in a gulag I just verbalised my opinion and having been in a cell this is clearly very different . I’ve seen some terrible places and some terrible things and in no way was I either comparing it to my situation nor asking for sympathy .

I’ve discussed it in another stickied thread exercise and routine have proven hugely important to me for a host of reasons , particularly several years ago . it was crucial for a host of incredibly dull physical and mental reasons. I’m just saying or I was trying to say that I miss it and a current injury compounds my ability to do any real exercise so personally I find it incredibly frustrating. I’m aware others have it significantly worse and in reality it should probably be relatively low down on my list of concerns but it isn’t because it’s something I go to in an any time of crisis, be that big or small.

My comment wasn't directed at you was just speaking generally about the gym complainers I've spoken to or read on here. I understand the benefits of exercise I'm merely pointing out you don't need a gym to exercise. I've been in a gym maybe 10 times but I've always been slim and fit when I can be bothered with home exercises, walking, football, running round my local park etc.

Totally agree Bruce.

Like i've said I'm not trying to claim this was in anyway preventable en masse. But surely more could have been done?

And yes, all these people saying 'oh let's just lockdown for a few months' - I know they aren't taking it lightly - but that in no way is going to guarantee we stop the problem. And then in three months, when people are going back out and there's gatherings taking place, then it all comes around again.

I keep saying but as far as we know the only way to beat this virus (and appreciate it's no sure-fire thing) is to get it and get some form of immunity.

It's here to stay so I don't get how people hiding away from it like it's lingering outside your windows is going to do any good in the long run.

I'm not thick. I know these measures are to slow the infection rate down and hopefully they work. But in the long run until there's a vaccine, there's only one answer of how to be immune to it.

The problem i have with the immunity herd thing mate, is to achieve 60% of immunity in the UK, the UK will have to go through worse then what we are seeing in Italy at the moment. The death toll there is at is close to 4k with 41k cases.

39 million will have to get the virus for 60% herd immunity - if it turns out to be true you cant get it again which isn't conclusive.

The following is the the death rate per 1000 confirmed cases in the world per country

Italy: 82.98
Iran: 69.76
Spain: 46.16
UK: 44.05
China 40.1
Netherlands: 30.89
France 28.9
USA 15.06
Belgium:11.07
S.Korea:10.62
Sweden: 7.64
Denmark: 5.21

So if you apply the UK's mortality rate into of 44.05 per 1000 cases into 39 million, its scary and that is as of today, without applying the principal of exponential growth.

Its a simple decision self isolate or loose that number of people. Life will be hard, but we will be around to moan about it.

I don't see why people are so eager to make everyone feel guilty.

It's been a week of this and there's 12 to go. I don't see what's wrong in trying to keep yourself going in whatever way you can as long as you're not endangering other peope.

If that gym I go to was full, I wouldn't go in. I'd give it a rain check. It wasn't. I was on my own and the staff told me it had been wiped down and cleaned. I did my hour and a bit, cleaned up as best I could, used hand sanitiser. The works.

I don't see how that's endangering any more people than simply going to buy some food does.

There aren't 12 weeks to go ffs.

So my sister´s school has 102 kids altogether. 37 will still be attending school from next week.

Absolutely ridiculous. What is the point in closing when you´re going to have those kind of numbers still coming everyday? You might as well keep all the other kids in there too.

Bruce I was dismayed in seeing that - I wonder why Italy has now overtaken China where it started in deaths , and outbreaks?

Think it's safe to assume more people got infected, and more people died, in China than their gov have let on.

If the figures are correct, perhaps it's due to the concentration of the epidemic in Italy (the epicentre is Bergamo is it not?). Small city, confined population etc.
