Basically if everybody stayed in lockdown for 14 days then anybody that had the virus would either die or recover
They would then no longer be infectious and could not pass the disease on ,so it would die out

What about the police , NHS staff , military , supermarkets , delivery drivers , schools where children still are etc . Every single article I’ve read about this says lockdown only works with rigorous testing , not just lockdown but Combined with testing .

I missed the daily brief today; can anyone summarise anything key from it please?
Wednesday they announced the closure of schools with the exception of pupils whose parents are "key workers". They also, inexplicably, announced that the list of those who qualify as key workers wouldn't be made known till Thursday.

At Thursdays briefing they didn't mention key workers and have yet to do so even though it's gone 7pm on Thursday. The fact that people might have to make plans to care for their kids seems lost on the Prime Minister but then his idea of fatherhood is feckless absenteeism so no surprise there.

There was mentions of "turning the tide" though when pushed Johnson couldn't actually give a clear definition of what turning the tide actually meant in terms that relate to a viral pandemic.

Exactly
This is where Britain and Ireland is falling down ,not enough testing
Ireland is in fairness starting to ramp up testing but they needed to get the infrastructure and testing kits in place

Good video but what I don't get is - I spend 20 or more seconds washing my hands at home. Then I decide to make a cup of tea. I put the kettle on but the tap and the kettle handle might be infected. I open a cupboard to get a cup out. The cupboard handle might be infected. I open another cupboard to get a tea bag. The cupboard handle might be infected. I get the milk out the fridge. The fridge handle and the milk carton might be infected.
How many times do I wash my hands in that scenario? I am genuinely confused by all of this.
My house smells of bleach
Every time we re enter the house we wash our hands
All doors handles etc are washed daily

I see that because of Brexit, the NHS had already stockpiled supplies which are now coming in handy....

Knew you whoppers would come in handy one day :bye:

Seriously though I think in terms of worst case scenario preparation It might well prove useful For where we are know despite much gnashing of gums about scaremongering. I’d prefer my government, whoever they are , to be completely ready for the worst possible outcome. As was said to me many years ago “It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it “
