Think it depends what you’re reading. Whitty and Vallance in the daily press conferences have been very clear that the vast majority (data I saw said ~85%) who get it will have mild to moderate symptoms. They’ve repeated this every single day.

I always feel more comforted whenever I see them on TV, calmly answering all the questions thrown at them with both alacrity and apparent sincerity.

He isn't provoking racism though. He is naming it from the origin of the virus, which isn't guess work it's the facts.

It's not provoking racism that already exists, which really isn't real racism on the surface. It's racism when people do something with that sure, but naming a virus after its literal creation isn't racism.

Calling it the Chinese Virus (when Trump was previously calling it Coronavirus like everybody else) has had exactly the desired effect.

It’s split people into “it’s racist, he’s racist, it’s a disgrace” or “he’s right, it’s all communist China’s fault”, and nicely diverted away from his utter incompetence and lack of leadership.

Everybody is cancelling their Sky sports subscriptions and with no televised live sport how long before their advertising revenue also dries up. It's only a matter of time before they suspend payments to the various football leagues. Same with BT sports.

No you don’t have to believe every word out of the Chinese government, and based on past history skepticism is good approach, but equally to say “we’ve seen the damage that the second wave is having in Wuhan” as you did don’t you have to actually have some evidence of damage? What is your evidence of a 2nd wave?

If there was a widespread 2nd wave I don’t see how they could hide it, especially as it would be grossly counterproductive to getting it under control.
