Yet one of the recent reports I read, regarding Wuhan, was from a journalist, who was shadowed by plain clothes police for his whole stay, was denied access to anywhere in or around the wet market and instead was taken to areas that had been choreographed for his visit and only allowed to speak to hand picked members of the public ( party officials )

Party time in Wuhan.

Sickens me how they have gotten off scot free. Once this is over I hope western society blocks all trade with them and hit them in their pockets.

Hideous Government not far off that of the despot North Koreans.

At least North Korea are open about their actions. They don't hide what they are doing.

China with their 'reeducation camps' are a different matter.

I'm talking explicitly about the vaccine roll out, which currently leads the way in Europe and is 4th per-100 people in the world in terms of getting people their first dose (at least).

That is going well. Whoever is responsible for that is doing well and hopefully it continues because it's our only way out of this - partly because the government have been crap and partly because no other country has a solution other than lockdown either

Let's be clear: the Pfizer vaccine was rolled out quicker here because the UK regulator were prepared to be first over the top to test the water. The AZ vaccine is yet to be given a license by either the US or EU regulator. Others are taking things morre cautioulsy and usint he UK like a canary in the coal mine.

My missus has been drafted on to the covid wards at whiston hospital to help due to staff shortages (covid related). The wards are all full with covid patients and her ward only has 2 people over 60. The youngest patient in there is 26.

It is undoubtably affecting younger people more this time and lots do require hospitalisation.

I know a bloke. 39.
Tracking Covid-19 since January last year for his job.

On a ventilator. Dad of four.

Its hard to define who's most at risk thats the scary thing - younger people may be in hospital but how many could have underlying health conditions either known or undiagnosed?

Doesn't make it any better of course but people get too hung up on age with this thing whereas a lot of people who seem to get seriously ill or worse tend to have underlying health conditions and in many cases more than one condition.

Our approach gives more people more protection quicker.

That's a good thing.

Someone's got to do it. Given we've got the worst death ratio in the world as of last week (per 100,000 or whatever), then I'd say it's a priority for us to get the vaccines out asap, but every single nation wants to be doing it quickly.
