You'd think, but the Spanish have banned people cycling outdoors. Numerous photos of people being stopped by the police.

I intend to get out on my bike anyway - I live in the country, and can do a simple 7 mile trip without going off a very quiet minor road. Can't see Irish authorities stopping this - well...maybe in congested cities, but still very doubtful.

....my daughter’s a hospital surgeon. All leave has been cancelled, if she’s not in work, she’s on call. She’s paranoid about passing the virus to us, refuses to come over the front door and is being very firm telling us to stay indoors. I admit to not fully adhering to her steer but there’s no doubting her concerns.
We have my 82 yr old mam on lockdown ,or cocooning as its now being called
She is not impressed ,BUT HAS NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER

My brother took her house keys off her yesterday

Mumps update, Day 4, the swelling has gone down alot still sore to eat but the pain in my balls has gone which is a fantastic relief. I still can't get over the fact that I'm never sick but happen to get a dose of mumps during a global corona virus pandemic.
There is a good chance that catching mumps as an adult male will leave you sterile

Chester has got 18 doctors in self isolation. Not one of these have been tested to see if they have actually got it or not. If they haven't got it then that's 2 weeks off work, then if they do get it, another 2 weeks off work. Start testing health staff you absolute balloons!!

Indeed, its absolutely crazy that they are not doing that (and with the rest of the emergency services).

I`m a runner mate and as long as I don`t catch it, I have no intention of stopping, even if means going out at first light or late at night.

99% of my routes are off road, so the only people I see are either fellow runners ( one or two at most) and dog walkers.

Nowt to do with that.

If the gov's plan works - which it still could to an extent - then the NHS won't be overwhelmed. That's my point. Let's hope for the best and not wallow in self pity like we are doing atm. Cancelling everything only piles on the misery.

I've not got a job atm. I'm sending my cv out left, right and centre. My life has been turned on its head in the space of three days. I'm fortunate I don't have a family to fund.

So sorry if I was looking forward to certain parts of the summer.

Well, specifically, this is the bit that riled me:

So Glasto gone now too.

Pathetic.

Honestly what's the point? We might as well all get it and just be miserable all year.

I appreciate it's a tough time, for some more than others. Having something to look forward to is good mentally.

But "we might as well all get it" as a direct reaction to Glasto being cancelled is quite a selfish attitude when thousands of deaths are involved.

Assuming it will have peaked in 6 weeks doesn't mean we should return to normal in 6 weeks either. We'll need to observe this globally to know what any tail might look like and whether secondary peaks need careful management too.

Glastonbury took this action (I believe) as final payments were due on 1 April, and a lot of people will face financially tough times. Waiting until May (and keeping people's money for that time) isn't sensible for anyone.

But China has been wonderful through it all, according to one particular winnet on here.
