No but they’ve offered unpaid leave as another alternative. I wouldn’t be bothered if it was a 50/50 split, it’s just that I’m effectively taking an hourly pay wage cut.
Pretty much everyone is going to have to take some financial pain during this, there will likely be tens/hundreds of thousands out of work as small businesses fold over this. That said what your company is asking you to do seems like a dick move.

I'm working from home as of today but my partner works in the hospital and has asthma.

People need to remember that the NHS isn't filled with altruistic people who don't care about themselves and would die for any patient.
It's filled with normal people who have elderly parents, kids with immune system disorders, or health issues themselves.
The government should be bending over backwards to give these people the protective equipment needed to keep themselves and their families safe while they carry out their important work - otherwise all the tiny cogs that turn and make the NHS machine work will start to A) get sick themselves or B) self isolate to keep their families safe.
NHS staff should be given temperature checks as they arrive for work, masks to wear while they carry out their duties and above all else, COVID testing regularly.
The country depends on these people and our government is putting them in harms way and STILL expecting them to be selfless.

As an aside, ALL visiting should be cancelled for the foreseeable future. Make special exceptions for those saying goodbye to loved ones and new dads - but still perform temperature checks at the doors and masks for them to wear inside.

....my daughter’s a hospital surgeon. All leave has been cancelled, if she’s not in work, she’s on call. She’s paranoid about passing the virus to us, refuses to come over the front door and is being very firm telling us to stay indoors. I admit to not fully adhering to her steer but there’s no doubting her concerns.

Bless her and her efforts and to all the staff that are the Front Line of all this, must be mentally and physically draining

Our lass was told last week by the big dog consultants, during a pep talk speech, that leave would not be cancelled and welfare of all staff was paramount. Give it a week and all that guff will be out the window. If it’s gets too much I’ve told her to just ring in sick. NHS staff been treat like garbage for 10 years now.

Eggs, there's only one of you, do what your daughter (who is obviously smarter than either of us) tells you!

Mumps update, Day 4, the swelling has gone down alot still sore to eat but the pain in my balls has gone which is a fantastic relief. I still can't get over the fact that I'm never sick but happen to get a dose of mumps during a global corona virus pandemic.
