The fact there will be many people in greater need of proper medical care means he doesn't need proper medical care to the same extent. Get a grip - the NHS can't cope looking after us all, so let them look after the ones who need it the most, and stop whining if you're asked to try not to spread it.

Thing is, particularly here in the US, doubt that is a small % of population. Obviously age is the primary issue but hypertension, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, diabetes and cancer are all apparently risk factors - 10% of the US population have diabetes alone.

Indeed. My niece has a pacemaker, yet goes for work experience in hospital a few days a week. Doesn't really seem wise to me.

Genuinely confused about the testing procedure. I called this morning to tell them that the symptoms persist, so I had a swab and was told to wait for results. Shouldn't there be clearer guidelines for what to do in the meantime?

Stay home I'd have thought.

I agree it's not enforcable if the Chinese don't want to enforce it.

Therefore, shaming them into it is the key tactic. Allowing the public to express their disapproval. Scream about boycotts on social media etc. Just screaming "that's racist" and pretending they didn't cause this through their actions isn't the way forward IMO.

Yes, there will be some prejudicial backlash by labelling it as such, but that backlash won't cost millions of lives, which is what allowing this to carry on will do - if not with this pandemic then the inevitable next one.

George Carlin did a great piece on how language has changed to become non offensive and to take humans out of how we speak, the example he used was shell shock, it sounds bad and is too the point but over the years the exact same thing has changed to battle fatigue doesn't sound as severe, now it's post traumatic stress disorder and all the humanity has been taken from it. He says that if it was still called shell shock then some more veterans would have gotten the help they needed. Now we have covid-19 and are told not to say Chinese virus or to name it after a geographical area, if we did collectively call it the Chinese virus then maybe they'd stop eating wild animals and this won't happen again, but no god forbid we'll offend someone and they'll be back munching wildlife as soon as all this blows over.

If you're doing that I would also invest in a plunger cause it'll probably block your toilet!

Bruce start living on the shop floor in the real world FGS......daily hands on training, is how I learnt my trade - the opperartives I came across with high qualifications only 1 in ten where of any quality the rest on trial I dispatched to another department where their academic qualifications were more suited....

Not sure about that.. In our region you are only meant to be 50 yards from the house with the dogs. Plus can't see anyone in Spain paying anything like that for anything. I do however have 2 dogs if anybody is interested
