All travel in and out of the country should have been closed during the first lockdown.

Instead we had open borders and no restrictions.

It should have been, though those cases back then aren't the same as they are now?

I don't disagree though - they should have been shut and kept shut, with only allowances for people coming back from trips etc, with a quarantine procedure in place.

That doesn't take away from the fact that if you're currently travelling when there's no need to then you're adding to the problem, though.

Very very worrying news.

If the lockdown has to continue into 2022 and beyond I think a lot of people will be completely broken.

this is the thing, it's just panic and panic and more panic.

the vaccine will give people protection - it'll give enough people enough protection for life to get back to normal

of course there will be some strains that come along that are harder to deal with but the vast majority of people fight covid off without a vaccine, so with one they will be fine.

the slim percentage of people who do get it will be able to be cared for, because the healthcare systems won't be as overwhelmed.

no need for fear, no need for panic.

Sky News going on about new restrictions, whilst the next news piece shows shed loads of journos all huddled together outside the Old Bailey to get a glimpse of that Asange blert..
Just after that they had an interview in a school with the headmistress, who wore only a visor, whilst in the background loads of other teachers were working alongside each other in huddles - unbelievable.

Where are you getting 2022 from, you`ve gone full on Captain Manwairing there ?

Once enough of the vulnerable and elderly have been vaccinated things will hopefully start to open up again, that won`t take a year.

They're saying that this south african variant might not be covered by the vaccine, if it isn't surely its going to take some time to create a vaccine and then to get it injected into everyone?

I'm not an expert in vaccine development but surely you'd be looking at quite some time for that to be done?
