I'm not defending anybody Dave. Socially distance "when they could" related to public transport and certain workplaces where social distancing was difficult. It did not relate to pubs, bars cafes, restaurants or any other leisure activities.

I'm calling people out for selfishly breaking the rules. They don't break the rules then the chances are they don't catch it and take it home and pass it on to their family. It isn't rocket science.
Exactly.

The government encouraged that possibility for infection and you support them in doing it it would appear. The selfish clowns in public are just following the logic of the clowns in power.

Goat. I'm not the one saying we are in the covid position we are in because people are thick. You are. I'm actually saying you are wrong.

And whilst you say now that the whole country is thick, you actually qualified that earlier by saying the thick voted Tory and Brexit. All I did was point out that this didn't correlate with the areas that are currently in Tier 3.

You are now trying to politicize it by calling me a Tory and anti North. That is below the belt , even for you.

I'm not anti anything really other than those that don't follow the social distancing rules. I couldn't give a toss whether they're from the North or the South, young or old, British or foreign, white or ethnic, Labour or Tory. All that bothers me is that their foolish belief that the rules don't apply to them is the reason that the country is back in the situation we are in.

Why people like you are so obviously protecting them I'll never understand. I can probably show you a 100+ posts in here where I've been critical of the governments handling of this pandemic. And the vast majority of the UK population have behaved fantastically in doing what they can and following the rules despite suffering many hardships along the way. But the selfish few are ruining it for everybody.

I now live in Cornwall but all my family and friends still live in and around Liverpool. Cornwall is one of the least effected areas from covid and I put that down to us having a smaller percentage of selfish people living around here than there are in other parts of the country. But I'm still affected by what is going on up in Liverpool. I have a sister and her family who were all poorly with it. A brother who's just come out of chemo for leukemia who had an amazing escape when 3 of his friends he had a drink with all caught it and one of them died. And a best mate who lost his mother and 3 Aunties to the virus in the space of 4 months.

So stop with the points scoring please. I'm not a Tory and I don't hate the North.
Im not defending selfish people.

Im just saying the mantra that its the peoples fault was driven by the tories.

With good leadership and a working test and trace system, we arent in this mess.
With less selfish people, we arent in this mess.

Isn't that in essence what I said in my first post earlier
There's no doubt the Govt messed up TTR first time around. They were right to set it up, man it and finance it. But then they needed to pass control over to local authorities and resourced it from the central pool as required. Same with tier 2 testing.

But the main reason TTI system hasn't worked is lack of co operation from the public. More than 30% ignored contact from the TT team and 80% of those that did respond didn't follow instructions to self isolate. Roughly two thirds haven't signed up to the NHS TT system.

One of the best ways to help our NHS is to sign up. Have you Dave. I'd bet at least half of the people on here cryarsing about TT haven't. You know. Another way to help our NHS is to socially distance. Liverpool would be in Tier 1 if people did that simple thing. No question

Hospital figures - 250 deaths were announced today, 1 up on yesterday and 58 up on last Thursday. 192 deaths were in English hospitals, up 18 on yesterday and up 40 on last week with 189 occurring in the past 10 days. The 7 day rolling average rises to 187.57

All settings - For the 28 day cut off, 280 deaths were announced today, down 30 on yesterday and up 91 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 229.71

For the 60 day cut off, 290 deaths were announced today, down 26 on yesterday and up 88 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 237.57

No Dave

I do support the opening of pubs and restaurants. They are safe if people follow the SD rules. If they break them they are not safe.

In my experience 100% of the bars and restaurants I've been to since shutdown were following the SD guidelines. The very few breaches I saw were quickly sorted by the proprietors.

That opportunity was there after the first wave - to get a proper track and trace system in place. It was squandered. Now we have to do it again and hope the time it buys is used expertly and not handed to corrupt private sector companies taking hundreds of millions for their blag failed systems.

So, when previously today you said ...

Lockdown - open up; lock down - open up. Rinse and repeat until a vaccine is in place.

What's the alternative - let tens of thousands die just so some spiv can continue to sell their muck?

... you actually meant lockdown once and then find a way of controlling transmission at a sensible rate so the NHS, and the rest of the country can find some sort of balance ?

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I for one am glad we got that sorted out, because I was beginning to wonder if you were just blustering from one rant to another without having anything rational to say, but that's plainly not the case.
