We can’t value a death from Covid more serious as death from say the flu.
And is it more contagious than the flu? I mean we have a vaccine for it yet it still takes 10,000 lives per year maybe more .
On average, one person will transmit coronavirus to 2 to 2.5 other people. https://www.who.int/emergencies/dis...rities-and-differences-covid-19-and-influenza

One person will transmit the flu 0.9 to 2.1 to other people .

I think both arguments are extremely valid, and there are no simple answers. I certainly don't have all the answers.

Loneliness and isolation is a serious health risk. Covid is a serious helath risk. So what do we do?

I think there has to be a balance between them, but how we do that, I do not know.

Loneliness and isolation affects the older generations far more than young people. I would hope the young would be willing to sacrifice one week of gifts and getting merry for the wellbeing of their elders.

Hundreds of thousands of people in this country work over Christmas, including many NHS staff. They have to crack on with it every year.

I‘d sooner my grandparents spend Christmas with my parents and I stay in Uni halls than the other way around.

I`ll also be carrying a dozen Greggs pasties
I`ve just gone out and got two weeks worth of ale and ordered in sixteen trays of Greggs pasties from Just Eat
Good job I stocked up on lager and Greggs pasties
We’re still working our way through the lager and Greggs pasties, the bleeding from the eyes comes next I believe.
Outbreak at the Greggs's factory forces shutdown. :(:(

*prays for @COYBL25

People don't want to do this. People also recognise it is needed to prevent the health service becoming overrun.

My issue is the world's governments have had all year now, and six months (most of those spent in lockdown to varying degrees in each country).

Each healthcare system in developed European nations should be able to handle it by now.

Mental health issues and loneliness don't boil down to age.

Just like people in their 20s having their careers flipped is the same as someone in their 50s having it done too.

Do you think that out of the 10,000 or so that die none have had the flu jab
The flu vaccine is around 60% effective and has a generally poor uptake across the population.

In the defined categories this is the percentage uptake for 2019:
  • adults aged 65 or older: 72.0%
  • adults in at-risk groups: 48.0%
  • pregnant women: 45.2%
  • children aged 2: 43.8%
  • children aged 3: 45.9%

Not really. They have their children. All my friends atm are depressed. It is really sad to see. We can't talk more than 10 minutes without touching covid, all the fun during our convos died.
