My missus mate has just been tested positive, so because my missus had an outdoor coffee with her on Saturday, I`ve got to take both kids out of school and we`ve all got to self isolate until my missus test result comes back, even though she has no symptoms

most of south wales has restrictions now:

no entering or leaving four local authority areas without reason
pubs close 1100pm
no meetings indoors, only outside

Hahahahahaha.

Primary clusters from pubs, pubs, pubs, pubs, pubs, and a workplace = Don't leave your area and close pubs at 2300hrs. Ffs.

And this point of view unfortunately remains.

I know Joe's a good Evertonian, he may even be on here. I'm just using this tweet as an example.

It's such a daft statement. The economy and people's lives are intrinsically linked. It's not right wing to think that.

There has to be a way forward without another full lockdown. Because it will do tons of damage going forward that industries (not just the hospitality trade) will never recover from, not least after the first one.

As much as people on the internet don't want to hear it , there has to be a trade off that some people will die. Talking about industries on their arse as you have done, you can't fix that without just standing firm that some people will die as a result.

Realistically there isn't a middle ground , we can lockdown the country again but people will still lose their life despite that. But allowing businesses to collapse can have a much greater effect in the long term if you plunge thousands upon thousands of people out of work/business .

Given the age groups still effected by this, it would be much better to plan around protecting those who at most at risk rather than blanket lockdown everything . The last information was 50+ are those who are dying still, with that going up per age. Doesn't mean young people won't catch it or get sick, they have a significantly lower chance of dying.

So perhaps a better way of planning this pandemic would be to protect those at risk and let the younger people run things in the meantime. It won't mean positive tests will decrease as such but you don't grind the country to a halt again and potentially destroy lives for the long term either.

Yeah, my mum's fella had to do the same. His sister tested positive so he had to isolate despite not having any symptoms himself.

It's fair enough like but he'd know if he had it, apparantly needs 3 inhalers to get going in the morning because he is a heavy smoker

In all the official Government announcements one thing that strikes me is the absence of facts that would demonstrate the reasoning behind any restriction.

It all seems abstract. This vagueness possibly feeds into the conspiracy theories and cynicism.

By facts I mean sharing detailed analysis of clusters and cases, how they were transmitted, under what circumstances and in what environment.

The only widely publicised case I’ve seen that has touched on this is the guy that returned from holiday, didn’t isolate and went on a pub crawl.

I would think it far more powerful to explain that and other localised outbreaks in real detail. Show the trail of pubs they visited, the taxis they shared, explain how many infections affecting his mates or strangers can be associated with this outbreak and how many others were then caused by onward transmission.

What were the likely routes of transmission and which of the restrictions or precautions might have prevented each one.

Follow and update the details of that and other clusters, how many were hospitalised, asymptomatic, sick etc. Make it real rather than reporting that the overall number of cases has increased nationwide.

Perhaps even call it test and trace.........
