It's the whole introduction of restrictive measures stalling. Commence a local lockdown on the day you mention it and not after a weekend when people think they can go for one last blow out.

They have a chance to get this right second time around but they cannot make the right decisions and do it quickly enough. Flights need to be stopped for now, I flew back from Spain 2 weeks ago and there was nobody there to check my passenger locator form.
When I flew back 4 weeks ago nobody checked if I was isolating and nobody has checked this time.

It's such a daft statement. The economy and people's lives are intrinsically linked. It's not right wing to think that.

There has to be a way forward without another full lockdown. Because it will do tons of damage going forward that industries (not just the hospitality trade) will never recover from, not least after the first one.

People will always have an opinion largely based on their own circumstances. I've not been massively effected by lockdown (although I've had a lot less work) but if you was retired/lived with mum and dad/could WFH its easy to say "lock it all down" and screw the rest.

Im more arsed about my kid, in Key Stage One and sadly not the sharpest tool in the box anyway and he just doesn't understand whats going on or getting the stability school should bring.

I would happily get ill with this thing if it meant he and all the other young kids get the education/chance to have a good future - you dont know love until you become a dad - they are our future and we shouldn't forget that.

I had a look at their graphs and wasn't sure the numbers backed up their points.

They were talking about doubling every week with approx 50k case by end of next month. Yet the figures on their graph showed cases have been static for about the last 9 days?

Put that graph up and let's all have a look.
Scientists normally know how to interpret graphs.

He is going to have to be blamed, or he will take them (politicians, pundits and hacks) all down with him. "If only Labour hadn't been led by that man* then we'd not have backed this charlatan" will be the refrain.

Lockdown will happen i think mostly because the govt are clueless and have no better ideas

but itll be too late (again) and then we will come out of it and this will happen again...

never ending isnt it needs to be something more sustainable, that involves keeping things open etc

yeah, think you’re slightly misreading it, by just looking at the last week to 10 days.

The doubling every 7 days will be a longer term trend.

But just taking those last 9 data points - data points 1 & 2 were big increases compared to before that. data points 3,4 & 5 were down. 6 & 7 were up, higher than 1 & 2. 8 & 9 down slightly.

Note also the axis is very compressed with 10,000 cases being the first axis point, so those increases in data points 1, 2, 6 & 7 are bigger numbers than it looks on that slide.

A 7 day rolling average would be clearer showing the upwards trend.

The different in behaviour toward the covid between South West and North west is astonishing.
In South West, mainly everyone is wearing a mask and very polite in pubs and restaurants making sure you are social distancing. Been in the wirral for a week and not many wearing a mask. Was even told by an butcher in an indoor market store that I can take my mask off, the reason was its annoying. Wtf

People trying to give me hugs and when I'm like nah they tell me covid is lies.
