What are most people’s employers doing?

After our first positive case on Saturday they sent an email round last night saying we all have to telework apart from operationally critical staff who have to be on site. The lad who tested positive was in work for a few days before developing symptoms and being sent home, so most likely more cases are going to start springing up. I imagine we won't be going back into work for a pretty long time.

There's drones flying around here telling people to stay in their homes. Just glad I don't live in a city and have a little land. Police are fining people for being outside. I can't see how this won't happen in UK. Although God knows how they will police it in a big city. People here are taking it very seriously indeed.

Where are you mate?

Spain buddy

Beer and wine next.

Thousands of tramps fighting outside Londis over the last few bottles of Frosty Jack and Carlsberg Special.

May the Lord have mercy on our souls.

Hang on one second.

I'm quite willing to poo in a pringles tube, even not during a crisis.

But quarantine with no alcohol will give a lot of people cabin fever and there will be countless accidental poisonings as people try to get loaded on whatever they can.
Not to mention the unquantifiable number of the population who are physically dependent on alcohol who without it can lead to seizures and potentially death.

Everybody with the capacity to do so should attempting to produce some sort of alcohol at their property whether it is a sloen gin or prison hooch in your toilet.

There will be around 50,000 ish cases in the UK now. The vast majority will go unreported because of the nature of the illness - barely affecting the young, or mild symptoms in many even up to age 60. And viral spread happens exponentially, not linearly.

The way it looks you'd be looking at 60% minimum IMO. 80% is a worst case scenario but isn't ludicrous.
Fully agree. In fact I think it's much worse than that even.

Based on the Wuhan stats of exponential growth the govt estimates of 10k infected would seem reasonable. But that assumes that the tested positive figure of 1100 or so is accurate. As we all know it isn't. Not enough people are being tested including the majority of the 1000s currently phoning 111 daily.

I think that is the biggest mistake this govt has made. There should be testing screening centres all over the uk including all airports. Everybody returning from heavily infected countries should be tested and told to self isolate until results come through. Same with everyone who calls 111.

Don’t know if any of the other London folk on here have experienced this yet, but the Victoria and Northern lines are really quiet compared to a normal Monday rush hour. The air quality is noticeably better as well, in fact the whole morning is glorious.

Been working from home most of the year, with significantly fewer meetings than usual (and no overseas trips at all, with a couple having been cancelled). Travel has been heavily reduced.

What if i told you that Steve Guttenberg has agreed to be our Oldie Officer.

He's very keen. It's mostly just wiping @Barnfred 55 s arse. He was less keen when i told him about the lack of toilet paper but he's such a pro.

Apart from that he will be listening to @joey55 s jokes and generally helping with the little things that they have difficulty with like changing the tv channel or making love to their wives.
Think you need to catch up on some of that sleep mate.

Hopefully one of the plus points coming out of this will be a major re-assessment of the culture of ‘work’ especially with regards to people being able to work from home more and also stopping people going in sick.
