A man not known detail or truth who has some how become PM has been unable to get a correct and consise message across to the nation to calm fears, it's not rocket science.

I'm not sure what's hard to understand? I'll repeat again:

- If you're elderly or have underlying health issues that place you at risk, stay out of harms way
- If you have symptoms of coronavirus, self-isolate yourself
- If you are none of the above, go about your business while maintaining hand hygiene and all that, and try if you can to ensure the elderly and vulnerable are looked after

I think you need to read the context and previous discussions. Then maybe you’ll have the aptitude to respond to what I was going on about

but you’ve sort of proven my point, taking one statement and running with it rather than understanding the bigger picture

.

I‘m not so sure of that. I’ve no doubt that millions will get it, but since last November we have had no end of flu like symptoms hitting us. My guess is that many of us have already had this thing and got past it while assuming we had whatever strain of flu was doing the rounds. There may well be thousands who die, but probably not the six figure sums you mention.....no one knows of course, and we are all just giving our own viewpoints, but I hope I am right and you are wrong.....
Only reading this now. My missus and myself both got wiped out in November/December time with a flu like never before. I dont recall much coughing though but it did last 3 to 4 weeks before either of us felt 100% again. You're not the only one I've heard saying this too. I'd love it to be the corona as we'd then be immune but I dunno wasn't chesty enough for me so I think it was something else that was going around that just happened to be quite strong.

Interestingly though, the first reported case of the virus was in November in China. What's to say it wasn't circulating unreported. Here's hoping as it'll mean alot more people are immune than realised

Made the decision to call in sick for work tomorrow. Still coughing, sore throat and a stuffy nose. Not left my house since Thursday.

Not my routine to stay home with a cold and probably is nothing, but think the risk is to potentially infect others is too big.

the correct thing to do mate. If only other people would be this sensible

TalkSPORT has actually been a decent listen today. Sure, they have batted the same issues around like everyone has, the league, Liverpool, etc, but its been quite revealing hearing their pundits suggest stuff beyond VAR and refs.

What are the current advice guidelines around romancing the elderly?

....I feel for the economy over there, it will be even further decimated. We were heading to Ikos hotel in Halkidiki, still scheduled for Cyprus with TuI in July.
My Mum lives in Paphos.Just spoke to her. They were due to fly back to UK next week, but were told, they will be isolated(NOT AT HOME) for 14 DAYS. on their return to Cyprus. To quote her (73) .... ' I haven't been in a school gym since I was 14.I'm certainly not going to spend 2 weeks in one at my age ' lol

*As a medic, the herd immunity thing is pure crap.
#If the most vulnerable in society were isolated till the rest of us (honestly 60% has been properly just pulled out of nowhere) had recovered (the end of 7 days of isolation we will likely still be shedding viruses but just not enough to likely pass it on), then we may be a suitable immunological barrier to prevent further rapid spread to those at risk of dying. The government are playing loose and fast with potentially millions who will get very unwell, and possibly a quarter million who will die.
Our Government is flying in the face of pretty much every other country in Europe, and WHO recommendations. Boris recommends schools stay open, people stay in work- but Eton is deserted, and parliament is halted, take from that what you wish.

The emails I'm getting suggest the potential for hands to the pump in the coming weeks. I'm specialised, I'd be no use in gen med or A&E anymore.

I gave a talk on it from an O&G point of view the other day- generally pregnant women who are fit and well otherwise should be fine- no increase in congenital malformations or miscarriage. Just incase an GOT'ers were worried about that kind of stuff.

Those in charge are literally incompetent. They've had the whole time from the announcement of the severity in China, then Iran, then Italy to come up with a plan. A plan that, in my limited understanding (did somehow get a 2:1 in Virology module) should of been instigated probably a week or two ago.
To have Hancock begging online today for ventilator manufacturers to come forward with machines or to engineer a solution to the shortage is mind blowing.

Exactly what everyone should do if you even have mild symptoms.

Its a crisis now, priorities have changed.

-make sure the 1% are well capitalized enough to profit handsomely from cheap stocks when/if this is all over
-blame someone else (Liberalz, Labor voters, Immigrants, the EU, Democrats, China). Rupert is already on it.
-buy New Zealand citizenship, you know just in case the poors miasma is starting to creep in on your gated community
