Perhaps, but surely the question that should be asked then is why people trust rumours rather than the official line?

I know social media is pervasive but if we didn’t have a PM known for fibbing backed up by a media that most people trust even less than him, I doubt there would be so much stockpiling of toilet rolls.

Also if it is that bad, why haven’t the Government blocked the worst offenders (the firms)?

its not just Johnson though, since the event of social media people always believe the crap that’s spouted on there. It’s a lot easier to have a theory than believe the truth; look at the crap when there’s a terrorist event; how long does it take before you see “false flag”. It’s embarrassing.

Full lockdown is not an especially accurate term, as people are still going to work, they're just not allowed to be anywhere but home or work. The state have just decided what kind of work is permitted, with restaurants, shopping centres and the like largely shut.
