Vallance:

5th May: “The risk at one metre is about 10 to 30 times higher than the risk at two metres, so social distancing is an important part of this.”

Today: "The reduction from 2m to 1m is a perfectly reasonable approach to take".

And all the lobby journalists nod their heads and fail to challenge him on his BS contradictions.

I am a bit concerned now. By stopping these pressers, it gives the impression its all fine and dandy. And it certainly isnt.

Feels a bit like being left to our own devices.
They've run away. They dont want to be accountable anymore. The conferences have been like teeth pulling for them.

Personal trainer, trying for an MA in kinesiology.

Never thought the gyms should be open anytime soon, but when I see Johnson opening the pub and restaurant floodgates I can see why a lot of people are a bit gutted.

This notion that pubs can safely be opened, especially now football is on tv non-stop, is just so ludicrous that it could only have come from this bunch of idiots.
It's ludicrous that pubs open and gyms reamin closed. They should both be closed.

Depends how they work it out and the venue.

In my local 90% of the people who go in there are regulars and the landlord knows them by at least their first name or nickname.

I think in pubs like that there wouldn`t be a problem and tbh I`d welcome it, as it`d give me some piece of mind, that if someone in the pub got it, that we`d all be contacted pretty rapidly and could react accordingly.

City centre bars would be a different thing all together.
Quite happy to give my details to the pubs I go into, I've already got loyalty cards for some of them and like you said most of the mangers and staff know the regulars to speak to anyway.
Id also like to believe they'd be inclined to look after their regulars first, the thought of some randoms plonking themselves down with their little Aaron and Tarquin pissing around as they take selfies and drink prosecco despite never entering the establishment in there lifetime will wind me up no end, especially if you can't get in till the sweats leave. Got a feeling the initial week will be like Xmas, bellend once a yearers doing everyone's head in and taking up proper drinkers space, God forbid they start ordering coffees and lattes

I guess the German figure is hugely localised following their outbreak, whereas ours is UK, or England, wide.

... which makes our situation worse, because it's harder to control using test, trace and isolate.

Personally, I intend to carry on much the same as I'm currently doing, and will review the data in roughly four weeks.

Having said that, the things I'm really missing are gigs and the footie, neither of which are going to change much in the short to medium term, so I'm not making a massive personal sacrifice by swerving most shops, pubs and restaurants for a few more weeks.

Same mate. Nowt will change in our house.

That said, I do need to get the garden sorted.

121 people killed by this virus announced for today...and these scumbags are about to reopen Covidq19 laboratories AKA pubs, bars and restaurants. It is still carnage out there with this virus.

What 'kin world do these scumbags live ion? And what sort of people accept what they say as rational and supportable?
Hungry alcoholics?

It's "The Science"!

Tis. And it needs to be repeated and repeated and repeated.

Because lets be honest, when the next presser is announced, it wont be to announce gyms are opening will it?

Do I have faith in the UK population to keep doing what we all have been doing? Dunno. But I am not confidant.

The deaths of 171 people announced in the UK today due to Covid19, placing this country way, way behind the rest of Europe. An ongoing disaster that's being spun as a triumph - one that can provide the basis for the destruction of social distancing and the reopening of infection laboratories like pubs, bars and restaurants.

What a 'kin sick joke.

The actual daily deaths, and the pressure on the NHS, are "Ok" mate.

That said, I share your concern re pubs and bars. Seems premature to me.
