Never been in a gym as I have a fit wife... And a terrier to walk.

I’m sure you are mate as I’m sure the myriad of posters who dislike gyms and Manage to maintain their Level of fitness are as well it’s just some people like gyms . Some people want to build muscle or do different exercises or work on a bag or use equipment they haven’t got at home . Like I say I’m not advocating them being open now but some people like painting small figures of gnomes that’s great and I’ve no desire to criticise but the same People feel the need to talk with disdain about people who want to go the gym , all a bit odd .

the size of five or six doubles tennis courts and are exceptionally well ventilated,

Absolute bollocks. The very big ones, like David Lloyd are, but every single gym I have delivered stuff to are tiny. One room units in business parks are the more likely case, with no ventilation unless you open the door.

I'm a PureGym member. I actually essentially lost money when it closed actually and re-opening would be great for me.

I'll talk with disdain about people who want them open now because they're thinking solely about themselves, not wider society.

The majority of people who use gyms would be fine in the case of infection. The problem is you get an outbreak and they pass it to the more vulnerable.

There's no defending opening gyms in the midst of a global pandemic. Literally no defence of it. Anyone and everyone suggesting it makes sense are complete idiots.

They just mean the Pure Gym sites here don't they?

But to be honest, the one near London Victoria would be a petri dish for infections.

The one thing PureGym are really getting wrong here is about data collection - they are able to do this because they have these "pod" entrances (so they don't have to employ reception staff and can be 24/7. Makes their sites even more of a health hazard

Do you honestly think the same cant be said of pubs? Will be even worse when people are drunk.

Probably. But a gym is a gym. Open one, open all. And everyone I have seen are like the one you mention.

The gym I go to is huge and is usually freezing cos the air con is too strong.

Will have to wait to see the details but I don't much like the sound of having to register and check in to go to the pub. What happens? How does it work?

Say the stedded-up chimp on the door takes your details. What does he do with them? Where does that list go at the end of the night? Chimp decides actually, I don't like you because or your colour, gender, sexual orientation or because you manage to annoy them somehow. Let's face it, it ain't difficult to annoy doormen, is it? Or maybe he thinks you're on your own, very drunk and therefore vulnerable and decides to let his mates know they can break into your house, 'cos you're in the pub. Or perhaps steal your identity, Maybe beat you up on your way home or rape you. I hope some serious thought into how something like this will work has been done, but judging by previous form, I doubt it. Guess we'll see.

Depends how they work it out and the venue.

In my local 90% of the people who go in there are regulars and the landlord knows them by at least their first name or nickname.

I think in pubs like that there wouldn`t be a problem and tbh I`d welcome it, as it`d give me some piece of mind, that if someone in the pub got it, that we`d all be contacted pretty rapidly and could react accordingly.

City centre bars would be a different thing all together.

I’ve not advocated opening them now I’ve said a number of times I understand the reasons why they’re shut . When they’re open I’ll go
