Im in two minds about the gyms:

Pro's to opening:

1. All the sexy scousers in tight kecks congregated in one place.

2. Gets rid of the pounds the lasses have been piling on during lockdown the greedy sods.

Cons to opening:

1. Nothing more natural & attractive than seeing a fine lass exercise in the local park.

2. You can perv alot easier in public space than on a treadmill.

The words you're looking for are "I've noticed in the last few months how many shallow and selfish gets there are".
Yes there are some. Some clearly who need a routine. By and large the British public have been fantastic.

But there are a number of people I've spoken to who would fall into the 'you just need to suck it up' category work talking about others - the type who would be banding about the term snowflake - who have completely lost the plot because their favourite restaurant has closed or because they can't get a haircut or watch any live sport.

We are meant to believe that they keep finding dead bodies in the back of cupboards from May.

Need to replace the daily briefings with Jackanory, would probably be more accurate.

But hey, the insecure people need to lift weights and look in mirrors.

There are so many people willing to give a bunch of liars and murderers a free pass just because they've announced they can get pissed and stuff a 'kin pastie down their gobs again. It's heartbreaking.

Utter serfs in this country.

To put it into context ...

The last ONS estimate of infections in the UK is 1 in 1700.
That's equivalent to 59 per 100,000, so, by German standards, large parts of the UK should be in lockdown.

It's not quite that simple because the Germans criteria is for new infections per week, which will be less than the total number of people infected, but, even so, there will almost certainly be quite a few areas in the UK which would currently meet the German criteria for being locked down.

A balance needs to be struck, but we're treading a risky path. Hopefully we'll get away with it.
I was working on the basis it was positive tests, not an estimate, which is why I thought 50 per 100k was a high bar.

It's demographic related too.

People under 40 are now thinking: "Bollocks to anyone else, I'm pissed off and I want my old life back".

This will be a massive issue in the coming months ahead: the generational issue will be huge.

Its completely understandable to view this through the prisim of your own world. Like, why wouldnt you?

So if you, and I dont mean "You", have a protected income, no young kids, no business to run and staff to pay, I guess you can be a bit more critical of folk who have non of those securities or issues.

But I do share your concern that the next phase of all this is seemingly being entrusted to enough folk who could jepordise (sic) our overall recovery.

Gottingen over 50 per 100,000 now, so will probably lock down soon.
Not sure whether I've asked this before but is that 50 per 100k an estimate based on statistics or is it based on positive tests?

Also is it a daily figure for new infections or based on a set rolling period?

Cheers

You cant seriously expect people to put their lives on hold forever. Its gonna destroy Liverpools economy after just 3 months lockdown and effectively the rest of the year gone. You seem to want everyone to stay at home starving and going mad just cos it will annoy a load of posh millionaires a little bit.

If it went on indefinitely the government would simply say theres no more money left for furlough, benefits etc hence people would be starving.

Also, you seem the sensitive type so I'm surprised you pay no concern to peoples mental health situations.

It's 50 "new infections" (so I guess positive tests) in the last 7 days per 100k. So any city or municipality registering that has to lock down according to the German government. Although Gutersloh waited until the figure was over 200 per 100k before locking down.

Cheers mate. That's what I had assumed it was
