Seems they are going to stop any mass gathering with 500 plus people but I don't see why this decision is different when it comes to work places with lots of people or schools. I get kids are least likely to die from it but they are probably the biggest group of people that will spread the virus with their poorer hygiene.

Crazy how people have gone mad buying stuff and then I feel others have felt the need to do the same same as they are worried there will be nothing left. The supermarkets must be making a fortune.

Which is the main issue with this policy - to do it properly, you'd have to ensure the most vulnerable groups are isolated and that the NHS is less likely to collapse by the massive increase in illness. They've done none of that it seems (though some NHS trusts are expanding capacity, but on an individual basis) and instead seem to want it to get bad as quickly as possible, in the hope that it goes away.

"If I close my eyes it isn't really there."

@Mrtallywacker can you spare a few words from the Good Book for this lost sheep who has wandered off the path of humanity?

Matthew 18:12-14
What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

The supermarkets must be making a fortune.
No mate.
It may seem like Xmas in the shops, but at Xmas people are buying Whisky and Vodka for £20 each.
The full trolleys you see are full of 30p Pasta, £1 Eggs and 85p hand soap.

Maybe if they did bang up the prices people wouldn't stockpile, but then lids who are skint couldn't buy basics.

Not to me Padre alas i am beyond redemption.

To the poster @zzr45 who has fallen so low even those who populate the dog threads are filled with disgust at his presence.

If they close the schools the country will come to a standstill which is bad for the economy, which is what the government is all about. They'd rather we just 'take it on the chin' carry on as normal and any resulting deaths from their decision to do so will just be considered collateral damage. Terrifying really

Are the queues ridiculous?
Not really.
My store is usually the 6th busiest in the country for sales within our company. ( £1.5m in the shop 500k petrol a week )
It's always busy night and day.

The delivery process is solid and constant. Certain things I understand sell out in times like this, as I've said earlier i totally understand why people are now doing it. They just don't believe our government.
The internet may cause such 'panic' but sometimes it may well be justified ?
