A look at Ireland response to testing Vs peak transmission, peak transmission was in the last week and a half in March and better testing infrastructure followed after, goes someway to looking at how Irealands Covid story unfolded and variable in flattening the curve.

I think Ireland has the capacity for 15,000 tests a day with a max of 3 day turnaround
Problem is very few have symptoms and are looking to be tested
CMO says 98% of all tests are negative

The thing is your company, and all retailers in fairness, very quickly worked out what they needed to do and got on with it. In fact you were pioneers. Those coming after can use you to learn from.

I don't understand why you seemingly accept that it was ok for your own company to source it's own stuff but it's a disgrace for schools to.
have schools got the money ???

Of course, it only detects those who have a fever as a result of the virus, which is quite possibly a small proportion. All I'm saying is that it is part of a measure of things (which seem to include good hand hygiene, mask wearing and as much social distancing as practically possible) being used in Asian countries to get children back into schools, while we faff about waiting for a perfectly sterile environment that will never come until a vaccine arrives, which may be 12-18 months away. The airports are planning to use it because it's better than nothing, and if they remain shut then there won't be an aviation industry to come back to.

One kid on his own
Where are the other 599

Am I missing something here ? Kids have gone back to school and infected their classmates and teachers and you seem to think that is a good thing because it proves a point !
Listen I am no doctor but infecting more people was the opposite aim from my side of the fence and the situation I thought the world at large was trying to avoid .
Setting up a situation to infect others " to find an unknown " is better left to Hitler and his crew .
You are missing something mate. Brain cells if you really believe that the Finnish government sent that kid back to school so he could infect his mates. They didn't know he had the virus. He and his schoolmates aren't guineapigs.

At the moment he hasn't infected anyone. But the Finns can use this situation to see whether he does infect others so they can learn something from it. That doesn't make them Nazis.

The reason I don't believe Trump has nothing to do with his or my political beliefs
The reason I don't believe Trump is because time and time again he has proved himself to be a gobshite and a complete idiot
No probs mate that's up to you. Doesn't make things he says that are correct automatically wrong just because he's a giant numpty. Same applies to Boris. We're at their level if we can't say when they're right and as well as when they're wrong. So the point I'm making is it doesn't make the Professors opinion or facts invalid because he once agreed with something Trump said.

Was talking to a mate who was informed by his doctor to self isolate, which he has for about 8/9 weeks,he is a ST holder been going for 50years + and he said to me, "he doesn't think he will be going again to Goodison as he's scared of sitting by someone whose a carrier" bit sad that, his life ain't going to be the same, Just thought I would mention.
The NEW NORMAL will affect society in ways we dont even know yet
Until a vaccine is found its a whole new ball game in every aspect of our lives

In secondary school most students are sat next to each other in two person desks, virtually touching shoulder to shoulder. In many rooms they would have three or four two seater tables end on to each other so the students are virtually shoulder to shoulder on the other side too. Not all kids in all rooms in all schools of course, but many classrooms in many schools are pretty cramped and crowded places. And remember 15/16 year olds can be pretty big physically!!!

In primary they are more likely to be seated around two two seater tables meaning virtually shoulder to shoulder on one side at at 90 degrees to a child on the other.
The normal way of organising seating arrangements with normal numbers in the school would make a mockery of social distancing.
Yeah I've already had that pointed out to me mate. You can tell I've not been inside a.classroom for 40 years

I'd be skeptical of an actual outright vaccine being anything more than a placebo to make people feel safe again and get on with life. How many years did it take for a flu vaccine? And what about the other corona family virus' that exist? Not had much to any success with vaccines there have they? Yet a working one is apparently going to be available in under a year.

All fair points, but it’s also fair to say there has never been a more well funded, resource allocated, globalised and cooperative political approach to developing a vaccine either in history.

From a development point of view this is breaking new ground.
