For the same reason a lot of state schools aren’t opening up ?
The boarders at my missus old school have been at the school since day one of this. ( Her dad taught there and is still involved with the sport )

For the first and probably last time in my life, I looked at Etons website. Its unclear when they are opening, as in I couldnt find the info.
They have however provided free rooms for NHS staff, and free access to year 11 and 13 state school pupils to their remote learning portals. I assume those school years are exam ones.

One just north of Bristol did that as well. Until the virus got in. Plan was iirc was to isolate the kids, (only a handful), deep clean, then get them back when safe.

The thing is your company, and all retailers in fairness, very quickly worked out what they needed to do and got on with it. In fact you were pioneers. Those coming after can use you to learn from.
I don't understand why you seemingly accept that it was ok for your own company to source it's own stuff but it's a disgrace for schools to.
Many firms wrote to our government to say they had production lines to produce PPE - our government never bothered replying in most cases ...buy cheap crap from Turkey , and China....
Things have to change after this pandemic.....but don't hold your breath - if you go on ebay always check out the seller it is littered with sellers from China plus Hong Kong -I now avoid them like the plague pardon the pun - the advert will have UK trader on it the location when looking at feedback from CHINA.......
The postage time is also an instant give away......

I‘ve just watched this on IPlayer. As I watched it I was confused because the graphs looked like they were showing the wrong numbers. Checking a screen shot against the ones you have posted, the actual numbers are correct, but the graph is four days old and has not been updated....It was similar with the graph for deaths.......PHE are bleeding useless....

I think one thing that will come out of this will be countries that were self reliant on these products would have coped better
Definitely we have sold our family silver since the Thatcher years , and have continued to do so -our main income is now the city, and many industries on shopkeeper levels .......
China has been developing the silk road worldwide for the last ten years imo......

The pressure being brought to bear on teachers to risk their own lives and kids' lives by going in is scandalous.
These butchers couldn't give a monkey's about those teachers and kids, they just want their financial backer's to be allowed to start making money again.
