well they did for main things like Drs, Hospitals etc but general day to day stuff they provided general guidance for people to follow. But has it’s grown and it’s putting more pressure on the health service and potentially business, so now the guidance is to reduce social contact.

Its standard contingency planning, it’s got to a point that now requires further intervention. Telling every from day 1 to not go out would have caused even worse panic than now.

I have no clue what the right solutions are medically etc. But I completely see why the government want to keep people calm.

Nearly everyone I saw in the street earlier when I was out a walk had bags upon bags of groceries. Lots of it non-food items. Then when I went into the shop for a sandwich, people were completely emptying the shelves.

I just wish people could please think of others in far more vulnerable positions than themselves. Its perfectly fine to stock up for 2 or 3 weeks. But to buy 2 years worth of some item is mad.

One thing they've been reminding us when we wash our hands, which we often forget, is to dry our hands with paper towels and use them to turn off the taps, open the toilet door etc.

Dunno mate. Maybe we have had the advantage of being a few weeks behind most countries, so have seen the computer modelling we have used being proved? So have placed our faith in that.

no, I attended a meeting today and they’ve reduced the estimation from 80% to 70%. But not all people will have the symptoms that are making people bed bound, some could just get a head cold type symptoms

It’s just important they self isolate and reduce contact completely.

however in the typical timing that sums up my life just sustained a semi serious arm injury . I’ll be fuming when I get battered in the post apocalypse wasteland by some skinny jeans wearing hipster because of it .

Presumably we will still see far stricter measures imposed in the near future. But the idea will be that we wont need to keep lifting them and reintroducing them several times.

I dont know if it can or will work but I understand the logic about timing. It's far from ideal if you have a two weak complete lockdown but the virus comes in another wave and you have to keep having further lockdowns

Kids off school could mean grandparents around the country being left to look after them during the working day. It could spread to more vulnerable older people.

I'm only thinking out loud but that scenario worries me.
