When government policy is claimed to based on it, it should be critiqued otherwise it’s impossible to determine what the government is doing and why.

I’d say that even if it was a purely scientific body and not one that looks very compromised by Cummings et al.

Indeed, and hopefully the announcement of the members of the committee today will be the start of greater transparency around its working.

Not a single person from the private sector and possibly not enough input from academia. What you are looking at there is the principal reason why our government/countries response to this crisis has been poor. Most of those listed will belong to sub groups. I'd like to know the names of those who actually have the ear of the health secretary as you can guarantee they will be the ones delivering the findings of the sub groups.

To be fair, my understanding is that SAGE are primarily there for scientific discussions, so you wouldn't expect trade unions (for instance) to be there.

SAGE is responsible for ensuring that timely and coordinated scientific advice is made available to decision makers to support UK cross-government decisions in the Cabinet Office Briefing Room (COBR). The advice provided by SAGE does not represent official government policy.

But if people are hot desking why does it matter? I’ve found the best way to do it is in ‘communities’. You sit where you like in a certain area etc.
Some people like to sit in the same place. They have their own desk with their own forms sorted in the way they like it done. They have their own pictures of their own kids, their own pens and their own pencil sharpeners, and their own stapler with their own name sellotaped to the bottom, and their own staple remover that if you ever borrow without asking their permission first, you risk having your knuckles rapped by their own ruler.

You try telling her that you are sitting in her seat today because you are hot desking.

Ergo, for hot desking to work, everybody must be agreeable, and won't work in every office set up. It probably works better in modern more automated offices.

I wouldnt use it, as you say with it being optional it would be useless.

The government can track every single person in the country, they could do their job, I aint doing it for them.
They may be able to track every person in the country, but it doesn't automatically follow that they would be able to use that ability to effectively contact trace. This app gives them that capability.
