I quite like being at home.

Look after my parents, though now they have discovered wine deliveries on line, thats less onerous. Make sure Mrs R has decent food and that. Queuing to get in a shop is worth it for an empty shop when you get in.

Must be murder in a flat with kids mind. Lob in job/income concerns, not great.

Every day is a living hell for me RayRay, the kids argue over EVERYTHING.

Sorry, I did not make myself clear.

In an uncontrolled environment when no-one knows about the it agree that how a virus spread means that high population places would be hit harder and indeed I expected that to play out throughout the outbreak myself

But once a country knows about it that doesn’t necessarily mean the same still applies and that was what the World Bank was exploring. In theory it might still be the same - after all even with social distancing you’d probably see more people going out to a grocery store in an urban area than a rural one. But it might be that there was better testing rates available in a rich, high density area compared to a lower density one that enabled earlier quarantine. Or better compliance with lockdown because of being able to work from home with better internet access or getting deliveries of food or other factors like mask wearing or even obeying lockdown orders.

San Francisco for instance is up there as one of the most dense population cities US.
Yet despite being very close ties Santa Clara where the first US deaths were and an outbreak likely spread for quite a while undetected it has a very low number of deaths - 25 in a city of over 800,000

In comparison Boston has less population, spread out over a bigger area and yet a significantly worse death toll of 340

There are undoubtably many different variables - SF put in lockdown about a week before Boston, weather, how recording deaths, % of vulnerable people may be different factors that are at play.

But overall there so far seems to be pretty weak correlation between population density and outbreak which I find intriguing and which is why I was interested in the China data that seemed to further raise questions if populatiom density was a significant factor.

I agree with you on following the data, maybe there is something behind the theory but I just can't trust Chinese data.

Will be interesting to see when we get more data from other countries.

There should have been an all Europe approach, but there wasn’t. It would be sensible for NI to liaise with ROI, why should they not, as long as it then does not endanger either NI or the rest of the U.K.....work with your neighbours is always a good way....
Exactly that Pete, political boundaries are irrelevant now when it comes to managing a way out of this.

Taking questions from journalists every day is the opposite of North Korea.

Theres no country in the world where the opposition parties lead the coronavirus press conferences. Dont be silly.
They don't take questions from journalists, they take them from reporters. There's a big difference between the two.

Pretty sure newspaper writers would consider themselves as journos. They have made a conscious decision to have more and more regional newspaper journos having questions.

second that.5 girls here aged 7,9,10,13,18 all will be okay then it only takes 1 to spit her dummy over something and it has a knock on effect where they all end up bickering and shouting. muuummm tell her or. she said this she said that.my wife has patience of a saint takes it in her stride and deals with it she should be a un peacekeeper. my brain feels like a small bomb has gone off in there at times and she just goes on wit whatever she was doing.
