This is complete nonsense. We are under-reporting covid-19 deaths not over-reporting. Institute of Actuaries puts total deaths at around 45,000 to the middle of this week.

The death certificates won’t necessarily tell the full story, but total deaths compared to the figure it would have been without Covid-19 will.

The story is horrific - last week deaths were at 244% of the level they would otherwise have been.

You tell the growing number of families outraged of their deceased loved ones death being attributed to Covid19 without any test that it's "complete nonsense".

The ONS and CQC figures include people without a positive test for Covid-19; however, the daily figures that the government will publish from care homes and the community, as well as hospital, from tomorrow will only include those of people who have had a positive test.

He didn't actually. That group was setup in April 2018. Hancock became health minister in July 2018.

It was established in 2017. From his appointment in July 2018 until it became fully operational on 1St April 2019 Hancock's hands are all over the set up of SCCL. And it's been an abysmal failure.

"On 1st April 2019, SCCL will commence what will be the final and very significant phase of the setup of its operations. The intention is that on that date the NHS Supply Chain model will move to a centrally funded model with a transparent pricing policy of “Buy Price = Sell Price” and the current arrangement with DHL for the operation of the Master Services Agreement (which provides procurement services for goods and services (except medicines) for the NHS) will come to an end".

I've said previously in here mate that, for deaths in the community and care homes, where no CV19 test has been carried out, GPs are instructed to include CV19 on the death certificate where the deceased showed symptoms of the disease.

So if anything we were overestimating figures rather than underestimating.

It would be interesting to know just how many countries are including Covid19 deaths without any actual test.

I think they're right in saying comparatives are a waste of time, but they made a rod for their own back with presenting those comparatives didn't they?

It's very worrying when a ward in a hospital just wanted rid after an ambulance crew had taken their decision to hospitalise her in the first place ....

Increasingly this is unfortunately happening more and more and direct consequence of the health and social care act. Makes me very angry what wards will pull...
As the NHS continues to slip further comatosed into privatisation.
Sounds like you have a good community team ready to commense battle against corporate NHS and their balance sheets... Your wife was lucky she got a call and did not find your mother at home... All stay safe and healthy...

Airlines are possibly the worst business to be in atm, how on earth do they recover?

No lifting of lockdown will get passengers back on planes, social distancing could be here a long time.

Hopefully the American pharma giant Gilead or the GlaxoSmithKline backed Oxford group will meet their most optimistic target and everything goes perfectly and we do get a vaccine in mass production by the end of the year. This is super optimistic though although early results are encouraging (only on animals so far for the Oxford research team).

Even if this rosy scenario happens, airlines won't get back to normal for a year to 18 months. There will be huge job losses, that's inevitable if noone is using them.

I would widen that to anybody in the hospitality and travel industry mate. It isn't just airlines. If this lockdown continues through the summer, which at the moment seems more than a possibility, then the fallout doesn't bare thinking about.

She has the power of attorney on money and health -I recommend this to anyone with an elderly parent to get it done as if not the hospitals will just want to send the old person to a residential home which I class as concrete coffins....
