It needs to. I don't see the point of continuing the lockdown, in its current form, for much longer or having one like this again for that matter. If required, and there is a 2nd wave, then the old and most vulnerable need to be shielded and protected while the rest of us, who are healthy and whose immune systems are capable of fighting it, should carry on to keep the economy afloat. Herd immunity done correctly works (not the tory version) and helps the virus to mutate and weaken.
The lockdown has saved lives but I still think it was too drastic an approach in hindsight. Other forms of lockdown or other ideas all together should've been considered and implemented. There are examples out there already proving this.
People seem have it mixed up thinking lockdown is going to make the virus go away. It was only ever intended to ease the burden on the health service. The virus is here to stay like the flu and other colds etc. If people want the virus to go away then the economic system needs changed as it would require a lockdown for a very long time to make the virus become extinct.
The current economic system we're in can't handle another lockdown. It's not designed this way and more people will die and suffer as a result the lockdowns than of Corona. We're going to be paying for this for years and will experience a depression or at least a recession worse than the last one. Add more lockdowns on top of that and God knows what position we'll be in.

Just heard her. Cant see the problem. There are loads of scams going on around this, so its actually pretty reassuring that they are aware of the issue, cos usually, they aint. Till its too late.

We’re doing ok mate, worse then some better then most thankfully. We’re about a week or two ahead of the UK of when we put restrictions in.
We’re down to R0 .5 from 4.5-5 before lockdown. Which is positive as limited as the data might be - I personally think your R0 is only as good as your testing. Personally I think we have far more cases then our baseline figures or our R0 would suggest.
On the ground things have settled in the health service, we were being stretched two - three weeks ago and I was getting worried, PPE was stretched, beds were filling quickly and my team were gong down with the virus or had to self isolate. It has settled since, so I’m hoping work wise we are beyond our peak. We still have patients coming in, but it doesn’t look like we will be swamped.
We put in testing and contact testing in early and have teams out in the community, identifying cases, contacts and clusters, we could do more but it’s definitely crucial. I want to see the UK do this now. We just secured a deal to ramp up our testing to 100k a week for technology and necessary chemicals, not insignifcant for a county of under 5 mill that could be a game changer for us. Overall in a general sense the trend is New cases going up (more testing) and in general RIP numbers falling, but you’d be keeping a close eye on them.
The natives in my opinion have been getting bolder, nothing on the roads for weeks but last night driving home from work may as well not have been of lock down, but in general we’ve done good bar a few bulbs. If not starting to get a little over confident and cocky.
The horror over here has been the impact in nursing homes and health care staff well over 60% of our deaths have been in nursing homes and 200 of our 300 clusters ( over 3 confirmed linked cases ) in the community are there, horrible but we have acted fast at throwing resources at it in the last few weeks, weve been late though to our shame. Else wise over 40% of positive cases have been Heath care workers, very, very high and something we need to look at. A lot of that was not identifying nursing homes for PPE.
In the context of horror around the world we’ve done alright, I suspect we will start to open up incrementally after the May weekend, although I’ve be cautious. for that to work we need to do more on our infrastructure in testing and contact tracing for bigger numbers. The goal is to to keep our R0 under 1, anything over you should be locking down again really.
We’re in the same soup as everyone else, but overall we’re doing well compartively with everyone whose got through this well so far. End of the beginning mind,

Well last year, every shop was open, and this year, in the few that were open, there was nothing to nick anyrate.
Critiques of Patel are not isolated to her performance in one news conference, she has earned and is fully deserving of peoples disdain over a number of years

If I agreed with you, we’d both be wrong.
What sane person would join that queue? I've seen mad queues for supermarkets, I'm there genuinely thinking I'd rather go hungry than join that.

Oh I get that. Aint a fan. But I have the capacity to listen to what someone says before I call them names. And as someone who has first hand witnessed the sort of scams she was alluding to, its the first time I can remember anyone being proactive against them.

Its ludicrous that we are only 2 weeks away from lockdown being over and the Government have mentioned nothing of what will be happening next.

I find it hard to do so with Patel I really do, at least Raab presents pretty well and comes across as a concerned human being. With patel I literally can't get past the sight of her at this point

Dave the reason they've eased lockdown here is that they cant enforce it.
They're gambling that if people can busy themselves with home improvement (the national obession) then they'll stay there longer. That's why home centres and garden centres are open.
As to well governed... which of the 9 governments that can't agree anything between them were you referring to?
