There really aren’t that many getting it, when you compare to a population of nearly 70 million.

The lag between someone contracting the virus and a death being reported can be over a month. I still think lockdown is working, but we may need to wait another few weeks before we can start the gradual relaxing of rules.

The average daily death toll is dropping. It's down over 10% from last week from what I've read. But it's still far higher than I'd have hoped at this stage.

Most people who carry it are asymptomatic, they spread it to others who are also so...eventually it lands on someone who develops symptoms. Even with lockdowns it'll spread (it can survive on certain surfaces for days, for e.g.), just not like wildfire.

I was thinking the same thing, leaving nursing homes aside, where are all the new cases coming from ?

Yeah, even though we may be past the peak, our number of deaths remains shockingly high. There is a lot of work to do before we can even contemplate relaxing lockdown.

Look at the carnage and tell me I'm wrong for feeling like that? That is down to Johnson and his criminal negligence.

France also has announced a reduction in lockdown conditions from May 11th.
On condition that the rate of infection continues to decrease.
Also washable masks will be made available and will have to be used in public places and on transport.

I have read that UK government does not think masks a good idea ( Cummings interpretation of science?), or is it that procurement services have forgotten to order any?

It means that the science is sound - that they cut down the potency of the virus dramatically - but that the leaders of the Banana Republic cant procure the required number of masks to make it feasible policy here, because they are a bunch of incompetent criminals and not the statesmen and women of other nations.

Well our deaths per population seems to be on a path to catching Spain and Italy. I don't think we're going to be any less spared when alls said and done.

Lock down has seemed rather weakly enforced by standards of e. g. Spain and France.
However, dread to think what the situation would be had it not been introduced.

Look at USA, 16000+ deaths in NY state alone, how can that be?

I know we are nowhere near up to standard but could be increased testing capability, particularly as hospital admissions are slowly decreasing

Point being, the lockdown is working, the infection rate we are seeing would be significantly higher if we hadn’t locked down.

I haven’t seen one for the UK is it in the public domain, they should be tracking it?
