Just answer this simple question. What treatment are Germany giving their 130,000 virus positive people that produces 14,000 less deaths than France........

I’ve suggested a few things - early identification (and isolation) of infected people so they don’t pass it on to a vulnerable people and more icu beds.

But I’m not claiming that I know the answer - just that it might be a good idea to find out why ratherthan assuming they are just faking the numbers and ignoring any useful things that we could be doing to stop our own distressing death tolls.

So your contention is that a) Germany has the same large number of deaths due to coronavirus as Itlay/Spain/France but b) because of an unspecified drop off in their “normal” deaths, which weirdly hasn’t affected any of the other nations, it doesn’t show up as a spike on their figures?

That is utterly mental reasoning.

As for your last point you are assuming the cases are measuring the same spread within the population at large which may not be true.

I don’t think they are faking the numbers. I think they are recording them differently. That’s why other European nations are not camped outside of the German Health ministry seeking their help and advice. I’m just saying don’t look at their numbers and believe there is some magic bullet or magic process they have.....

I'd guess they're testing more so they can isolate positives before they spread the disease. Weird, but that's how forward thinking people appear to be combatting the disease. I'll just stay put in the middle of the herd myself, I think that's the safest place to be.

My query is not about the spread but about those known to have the virus and the treatment then given.....

Excellent. But the contagion seems to be pretty well predictable across Europe and indeed the USA. They have over 130,000 with the virus, similar to France, so, test or no test, why are their 130,000 less likely to die than the French. Identifying it is one issue, but once you have it what is the differing determinant factor in survival. I would really like to know, as would I am sure France, Italy, Spain and the USA.....

Because if you test more, you pick up much much milder cases than you would otherwise... which brings the death rate down. (The number of deaths won’t change much if you test more, but the total cases found will increase).
