I’m not well placed to comment on our local health infrastructure (although there have been two reviews by independent experts which suggested the system needs major reform). What we do have is a high prevalence of mental health issues and associated health problems due to the legacy of the Troubles and years of stunted economic growth as a result.And tbh, I have no idea how other parts of the country fare in terms of healthcare capabilities. You see stats around differing spending on transport and so on, but I have no clue if the same applies for healthcare, ie if parts of the country have less capacity to deal with an outbreak than, say, London does. Obviously there are parts of the country with a toxic combo of an elderly population and few emergency care facilities (or staff), so you just hope there's enough for everyone.
Ironically NI has been found to be the“happiest” part of the U.K. in previous ONS wellbeing studies despite having one of the highest prescription rates for anti-depressants.
