Oh, the lockdown can't go on forever you say? Thanks for that stunning insight, certainly haven't had that angle in the thread before
There are folk in the media who believe it can though which is my point there is a complete lack of serious thinking into so many other different aspects of this situation other than the virus itself.
children for example learn the bulk of their social skills at KS1 age (and certainly primary) having kids of that age for months on end stuck at home will have them missing out on vital social skills (and for many growing up in working class areas with parents perhaps not into education themselves will be missing out on vital learning delivered by qualified teachers) thats a moral and ethical problem that is overlooked.
I cant see mass gatherings like Concerts or Football crowds coming back until atleast August/September however we can and should start getting the ecomomy/society running up little by little from around May/June.
Take restaurants for example - every restaurant has a natural maximum capacity of seating which is normally for a 2 hour slot per customer.
Say a restaurant has 60 tables - instead of having 60 tables of folk in per 2 hours why not a Govt led restriction of say 20 tables every 2 hours with these spaced out to keep diners further apart.
That way even though restaurants will still be losing money as 60 tables are not in use - it still allows them financially to bring in some money and tick over, it keeps folk in a job, it reduces what the Govt have to pay out to people & its still doing something to reduce transmission.
Again you could do this with alot of bars, cinemas, salons, barbers etc same as the supermarkets are currently doing.
The Govt needs to be having these talks now though with businesses to get things properly in place not a rush job balls up.
