If you test back and find those who gave it to the sufferers and isolate them then you can attempt to Irradiate the spread but it feels very temporary. They were going to let herd immunity just happen with little to no social control to protect the economy. I have seen all our LA contracts for leisure centres undertakers to come under state control to shift and store bodies. I could have been collecting the bodies rather than going for a nice social distanced walk today. However, there was clear change of direction by government 23rd into 24th, it caused absolute chaos, a welcome chaos I might add.

FFS. The policy is designed to put keep the peak load through the NHS at a minimum in order to prevent it being crippled and therefore deaths going up by multiples. That's been clear for a long time. Wider testing will be very welcome when it eventually comes online to understand how widespread the true infection rate is, but that doesn't contradict the current strategy that will minimize the rate of growth in new infections.

It's easy to criticize current policy from your armchair. But what is your alternative strategy? Herd immunity has already been rightly shot down due the unacceptable overwhelming of the health services. There are no easy solutions here.

Exactly it’s to ease pressure which is what I suggested a couple of weeks ago , I’m not arguing with that . However every other country doing it is large scale testing so even though I’m allowed to question without coming up with new solutions, as I’ve not got any real data and several times they’ve been less that truthful , but I’ll try . How about when the government were briefed on this and GOP politicians shifted their stock we started buying testing kits . How about we utilise what kits we do have to do what 90% of the rest of the world is doing and isolate sufferers then trace back infection , test them and then isolate the infection .

I’m not saying I’m right but you asked for an idea . I’m allowed to question because kind acceptance of any policy feels like a bad idea especially in a crisis , given for example they’ve lied and changed tack at least once so we can agree they aren’t perfect . I’m not saying they’re wrong , I’ve no clue and I hope they’re right it’s not about political points scoring I wouldn’t care in farage had the answers . I’m just saying this particular solution of short term isolation seems limited in its benefits . I don’t think we disagree in what they are I just perhaps feel that large scale testing would be a useful addendum but look we all want the same thing mate .

We are following the same curves as others, do you expect criminal charges in all these countries. Or, perhaps, we just didn’t really know what we were up against, bearing in mind all the lies given to us by the originator nation.....oh, and just checked again with the most recent data, and Sweden still only has 10% of our deaths with 15% of our population, so even now we still don’t know what the best response would have been.....

There will be many more variables, single occupancy, age of population, current health, state of the health service, number of doctors etc etc, but it’s still a valid input to any scientific or medical debate......and worth keeping an eye on....

I hope the general public remember the sharks who treated the staff like stock and those that acted with decency and responsibility. In my opinion punters also have a bit of a Duty when this is over.

Norway and Finland have lower population densities than Sweden...not I would use that as the determining factor of course......

All Uni's shut down weeks ago mate. They're well rehearsed in home learning and started early. Not sure how they're going to arrange the exams though. It's mostly project work anyway

My lad is at John Moores but is back home now. He was saying he had an exam online that was multiple choice and another one is downloaded as a worksheet and they have 9 days too complete it.

I’m not really sure what they will have gained. They could just of furloughed the team and let the Government pick up the tab until it was time to return to work. Sacking them makes me suspect that some of the staff may not have been legal employees, but really only the business knows why.....it sounds very odd though....

edit...although they may have had some really expensive chefs or managers that they wanted off the wage bill anyway and this gives them the excuse to get shut....who knows....
