Hopefully it stays that way, as there is likely to be a postmortem however this plays out. Hopefully they will remain united, and indeed have something of a restored faith in the value of experts.
Can't see that happening, various experts in health and social care have stated many times recent governments have run it into the ground and would not cope in a pandemic.

Glad it’s not just me , I simply can’t see that it’s anything else . I sit here thinking maybe it’s my broken brain but I can’t see there is any other way of looking at it . No imminent vaccine , no mass testing , no Back tracking of Those infected .

This is second hand via his daughter but I know someone who went to hospital by ambulance in Liverpool a couple of days ago. Was told they felt he had corona , received some basic triage/treatment and was sent home later the same evening and told they only test in icu And to isolate and monitor his condition .

So other than my opinion and yours , it’s hard to see what the plan is here .
I thought the same myself earlier, well specifically, by the time the testing is properly happening the surge will be well under way as was the original intention under the Govt.

Cummings has rolled a dice with a lot of lives at stake.

Its blindingly obvious to me. And until a vax is discovered, I struggle to see a different one.

Meaning what mate ? I’m not being obtuse, I can only see ‘herd immunity ‘ by the back door and this lockdown to ease the pressure intermittently on the NHS . Just can’t see any other way it works other than doing this for a year which clearly isn’t going to happen .

Well ask your self the question. If we have an incurable virus that can range from minor to severe in its effects, (like the common cold hasnt a cure/vax), what exactly can you do?

My answer, might be wrong, is manage the initial impact on the NHS, accept that tons of fit folk have had, or will get it, and take a breather every now and then till it becomes an issue like seasonal flu/common cold.

My understanding is that even in ICU, they're not actually treating people, they're just doing their best to keep them alive long enough for the body's immune system to defeat the virus on its own. You would hope that even if people aren't being tested (as it's hard to shake the impression that there is a sizeable shortage of tests), they are nonetheless being tracked in some way if people self-identify. I'm not entirely confident that's happening mind you.

The plan is ‘Stay at home’ .......why can’t people grasp this ffs?

It probably says more about me that I doubt the ‘self-isolation’ of Cummings and Johnson now that the surge is about to arrive on the back of their, at best, confused and conflicting advice to that of the WHO.

Johnson did look poorly the other night.

Never seen Cummings in public anyrate. Either way, I reckon the medics have moved in, policy wise. Hope so.

So effectively we think the same then ? I’m just glad you and other people seem to share the opinion because I can’t understand why intelligent educated people don’t seem to be seeing or discussing that it seems glaringly obvious and has done since day one .

It ultimately means people will die , I’m not in briefings I don’t know the answers but it feels unpalatable although in all honestly I’m not sure what else there is to do . I’m certainly not advocating it but I don’t know how we cope because the vaccine is a long way away . That said we’ve had US politicians selling stock seemingly briefed so why weren’t we using that time to be buying testing kits to allow us to follow the path that other nations have taken . If it’s true and the only choice Why arent they telling us the truth and owning it . The whole thing is extremely uncomfortable and the apparent sacrifice of a portion of the population with the promise of jam or rather testing tomorrow doesn’t really sit well .

Your missus will confirm, I hope, that in ICU, thats exactly what they do. Mind you, thats what they do in any ward once they know why a patient is in there. They just do it a bit more intensively in an ICU.

To be fair, Johnson looked poorly tonight on the news.

It’s only right that medics drive policy now. Personally, watching the U.K. have one approach to testing while the rest of Ireland has another is what is driving my opinion. When it comes to something you don’t understand, you gotta place your faith in the experts and just do what they say.

Ok mate I grasp that . Explain to me how that works . Stay at home for how long ? Will the virus stop ? Will it dissipate or disappear ? Not one country who have previously advocated lockdown have done so without large scale testing , the quote “you can’t fight a fire without knowing where it is “ has been used multiple times .

If we are on lockdown for say what Another 2 months you think it’ll have gone ? I hope so that’s great but No evidence suggests that , it doesn’t feel remotely like a plan to me . All the medical writing I’ve read , not Facebook I hasten yo add , stipulates lockdown and testing I’ve not seen one advocate of lockdown alone .

I’m staying in I’m not saying I’m not but I’m trying to figure out what the plan is , it makes sense to you that’s great . If you’d just lay out how it works other than easing the Initial pressure on the nhs then I’m genuinely eager to learn and that’s not sarcasm .
