I can imagine a question along the lines of "Will you now play Beckford more often?"...which Moyes will take as an insult.

He's earned it to start against Wigan and see if he can perform from the get go....have to see what he can do there and see if he can handle the premiership rather than coming on for 20minutes here and there. He didnt have 1 shot after starting 5 games in the season....see what he can do.

I think we were chasing the game and Chelsea allowed us to press forward committing numbers to attack. I'm unsure whether Beckford can lead the line in a game where the momentum isn't in that direction, tbh. I'd like him to be given a few games up to Christmas to find out, though. On the evidence so, as a lone striker he'd far rather gather the ball and have a shot from 40 yards out than hold it up and bring the midfield into the move. He's very raw, but he just might have a future. As was said in commentary by McManaman: he needs to get his head up and start looking around for options.

Superb stuff, just what we needed after last week. I've got to say I had us written off today, I couldn't see how we'd get anything, but boy was I proved wrong. Will offer a more detailed analysis at a later point but yeah, delighted. Only blemish is, yep, not winning despite being the better team. Chelsea or Chesterfield, we had more than enough chances to win this comfortably.

But I'm not going to let that dampen my mood - we just had the champions begging for full time in their own back yard.

Much better second half, fair play to the lads, I was expecting us to just roll over and die in the second half, but the effort and composure was much, much better and we gave it a real go, which is all you can ask for really. Special mention to Fellaini, who was commanding.

Good to see Beckford getting a goal. He is raw, and does need to work on a few things, but he makes intelligent runs, works hard and can strike a ball well, there's also an unpredictability about his play. Give him the right service and he'll be fine.

Steve Mcmahom and Jason Mcateer were the two pundits on espn asia and even being liverpudians they were voicing the same things as we do, Steve said,

"Moyes has done a great job at Everton, full stop. But he has the best possible mid field in the league, the best squad he's ever had and he complains about his side not scoring goals. I see 3 strikers on the bench today so why doesn't he go with a 4 4 2? He has strikers but he's afraid to use them. That's his major problem"

I'd like to see Beckford start every game. Let's face it, no one but TC is getting us goals and most of those are from set pieces so he doesn't need to play behind the lone striker for that. Besides, look how good the Yak/Becks partnership was in pre-season, and JB needs as much playing time as possible because, IMHO, I think he'll turn out to be a great player for us. I also think Mikel's absence is a blessing in disguise; his form hasn't been good lately and it'll mean LB-the-LB will take all the corners and free kicks.

By the way, did anyone hear me on The Fools' Panel on Hawksbee and Jacobs (talkSPORT) today? I predicted 2-2

I know I shouldn't, but :dancing:

Should've won by lots, could've lost by 5 or so goals.
Glad we scraped the draw though, as the team looked class in the second half, but why can't we start matches like that, rather than spend the last 10 minutes going for the win?
Arteta being out should give him some time to get his fitness up and hopefully, get his attacking mentality back and come back firing.

we're first on MOTD and we haven't been spanked....what the......

My dad woke me up this morning and was delighted at having a 1-1 score with Chelsea (he was in bed when the match was on) but, he didn't see how bad the first half was, we could've easily been 3 down and with 10 players on the field.
I would normally take a point against Chelsea, but I can see us doing them in much more these days.
