Centre-midfield - we need to take the brakes off

Not for me, we play with a withdrawn 10 the onus should be on them in terms of turnover and penetration, Ross is going to be the best but he has to do it consistently. Bar that or if we lost him I'd go for Lallana, he's taken of this season - but I mentioned him last season when he had a lower profile.

Barry is superb, McCarthey equally awesome - he was superb on Saturday - reminiscent of Roy Keane - for me there are few better partnerships in the PL, Fernandhino/Yaya maybe but your talking about 100mill and the same again in wages, you can keep your Ramsey's and Arteta, Lampard and Ramiris, Carrick and Clerverly etc. I mean that.

I'll say this though best signing of the year could well be Matic at Chelsea - superb player, best midfeilder of that ilk I've seen in a long time - could well win them the title, no coincidence Chelsea have been in superb form since his signing. Yet the press and the masses haven't cottoned on to how good he is yet.

We need a rapid winger and a clever number ten who has great vision and passing. Like Hazard. Pienaar, as others have quite rightly said, stunts most of our attacking impetus, I bet defenders love it when he gives them all chance to regain their shape.

Maybe Geads can fill in the rapid winger position, but for me Ross hasn't shown that he has the intelligence on the pitch to play through balls at the right moments. He should drop back to CM and be box to box with McCarthy, and then we'd need to buy a number 10. I'd rather have a 'Hazard' attacking mid and Naismith up front than a number 10 who can't pick a pass and Lukaku.

I've yet to see McGeady show a turn of pace since he joined the club

I'd love to buy Hazard as a proper number 10. No not that one, the younger one in Belgium. Then start using Barkley as a number 8 in the home games against poorer teams.

I think Martinez definitely needs to improve his options in centre midfield.

The current set up is solid and enables Everton to control much of the play, but the lack of a goal threat will always make it easier for opposing teams to sit tight and fancy turning a loss into a draw or win with just one or two counter-attacks.

I'd take Ki from Sunderland and, as DaveK mentioned, Ben Arfa from Newcastle.

Which is why I am not in favour of signing Barry.

Pity about this is, losing Oveido who could well have been slotting in there instead of Osman.
True, he was starting to look like a very decent player...pace and an eye for a goal here and there. Hopefully hew will recover fully without any loss of a half yard of pace as sometimes happens and he will come back strongly next season.

First priority should be a striker in my opinion

As already mentioned, we can just move Barkley to CM and then use Naismith as the player behind the striker

I'd rather us spend on a striker and get that covered before we starting spending on another mid fielder

I agree, teams are only as good as their strikers.

We need a top class creatiive MF to give us an attacking option instead of Barry or James MC. Personally i think we should go 4,3,3 but the we need to invest in new players to fit that system.
